I have grease coming off of the t-case side joint on the front driveshaft. After I saw the grease spray I thought the boot had torn. Upon closer inspection the grease is coming from holes in the yoke directly behind the joint. Any guesses as to what’s going on here?

My uneducated guess tells me the joint is better served with grease staying inside the assembly. Dry joints tend to fail. From what I can see the JK rzeppa doesn't have those holes. Hopefully someone will chime in who has disassembled the JL version.

Are there any updates to this issue? I have a 2.5 inch lift with a leaking rzeppa joint. At first I assumed it was a torn boot, but after ordering the TeraFlex JL/JT: Factory Replacement Rzeppa CV Joint Kit and reading this thread, I took a second look and it is definitely coming from the transfer case side. I guess the good news is I probably don't need a drive shaft. I'm hoping the TeraFlex kit will solve the issue.

The dealership wanted $1128 to replace the stock drive shaft.

What does the XR have to prevent this and will it fit my 2018 JULR???

There is a tiny hole on the center of the rzeppa joint cap. That's where the grease is coming from. My guess is the increased operating angel, due to lift, pushes the grease out from that tiny hole and slings it everywhere. I noticed this when I swapped the T Case. See pictures below. I double checked and there was still enough grease inside the joint. I wasn't too worried and pushed front drive shaft to the top of my mod list. (still haven't got to it yet as of today lol)

You should upgrade the driveshaft soon.

I just pulled the drive shaft out and noticed the same thing. Pretty stupid design, if you ask me.

I have the new Teraflex rzeppa joint waiting to be picked up in the Amazon locker ($280) Hopefully, this one doesn't have that hole. If it does, I'm sealing it RTV.

Thanks for the response.
