We were off-roading in our new Sport S and my wife asked me to install a grab bar, so when we got home I dialed up Amazon, ordered one and installed it (see attached photo).

When I was doing that I noticed 2 holes in what look like locations for the installation of an officinal Jeep grab bar but when I looked up Jeep Accessories online I could not find any, so I was wondering if someone could tell me exactly what these holes are. See attached photos. Are they for real grab bars? Or something else?

They are for soft top trim/weatherstrip assemblies.

Forward to the 9:00 minute mark.
Soft top install

Does not use the holes in your picture, but the official Mopar grab handles are these:

Those are not too expensive, and if I had seen them I might well have ordered them instead of the knock-offs that I did order. But I do wonder why I did not see them when I did the search. Thank you for posting that.

And, btw, when I ordered the grab bars I was not given the choice of buying only 1, for the passenger. I don't really see the purpose of installing one on the driver's side because I don't see how anyone could drive and hold onto a grab bar. Does anyone do that?

Acts more like a fidget stick when I'm sitting at a red light. My wife asked for them. I just went with the best for least expensive.

The Mopar ones reuse 2 trim screws on the upper inside edge of the sport bar.

There seem to be 2 holes at the top of the bar, but I would have to remove the roof to get to them. Are those the ones you are referring to?

yep. My top is down so I grabbed a pic. It may be possible to get to them with the top on, but it’s definitely easier with it off.
