I noticed the other day my GPS was massively off. I've read the posts about the radio needing replaced and so on but I was curious 'why' it went bad. I read up on Apple phones and how they utilize navigation location when plugged in for CarPlay vs wireless CarPlay. For a while I have been using a wireless CarPlay adapter and the day my GPS went crazy on the Jeep I noticed it was also crazy on Waze or Google Maps. I removed the wireless CarPlay and let the vehicle sit, then restarted it with the phone hardwired. GPS was back to normal on the Jeep as well as Waze/Google Maps. Now it has been fine since.
Reading up on the phone I learned that when in wired CarPlay Apple utilizes the phones location services, when wireless it uses the vehicles GPS. I don't know if it was just coincidence, but, my problems went away.
