Any recommendations on a good diff service shop in the San Diego area? Thinking about a regear at some point.

Thanks!

I'm gonna have Jeep Doctor in Temecula do mine when I regear. Think I'm gonna go to 4.88s from my 4.10s.

You already have 4.56 right you gonna do 5.13s?

I just took my jeep to Shift Auto Werx in Escondido based on recommendation here and fantastic yelp reviews. Trail Recon guy takes his jeeps there.

i was very impressed with the team there. Jerry is super nice and accommodating. Place is FULL of jeeps. From mild to wild.

my rubi transfer case wouldnt line up due to difference in transmission issues. I need an adapter. They had to put it back together to move it out of the way till that piece arrives. I thought i would get stuck having to pay extra labor for the extra work. He said “oh no. We wouldnt do that.” He was totally chill which put me at ease. They are pricey at $171 an hour but the service is excellent and based on review so is the work. Very professionally run shop. Stop by and check them out.

i inquired about lockers. Same charge as doing gears. $700 per axle. They do them in house.

ive seen this gladiator before. Maybe on youtube?

nothing on you at all.

based on your recommendation i checked that shop out. Holy shit theyre Yelp page reads like the comments section on a yahoo article. I get along great with mechanics but who knows with that guy. Im sure hes a great mechanic but hes probably tired of dealing with noobs. I was tempted to go there but didnt want to roll the dice. Hes definitely not for everyone.

Yeah, looking at 5.13s. I'm thinking about trussing the front while (whoever) is working on it.

I've looked into Jeep Doctor in the past - they get great reviews but they're hard to get a hold of. Also, Temecula's a bit of a haul for me (especially when I need to ask my wife for a ride ?).

Yeah I just went into the shop. Dudes were cool and easy to work with. Prices aren't bad and they are 10 minutes from the house.

My tires were 600 bucks less than what DT quoted me so I'm not complainin.

Yeah knew it would be a haul for you. I'm looking at 4.88s but yeah trussing at same time. Thinking axle shafts too but not sure yet need to do more research.

I'm hoping to do:
  1. regear to 5.13s (I'm good with 37s - but for how long? lol)
  2. truss front
  3. ball joints
  4. axle shafts
  5. steering knuckles
probably won't get to this until the fall but no time like now to start overthinking it!

No 40s in the immediate future - just don't want to build myself out of them :). Overall would like to strengthen the axle while adding as little weight as possible.

5.13’s is alot of gearing! 4.88’s with the 2.72 :1 transfer case has been pretty damn good. I am hoping to find a 4:1 x case in the next year or so to install
