I know we all have different level of comforts when it comes to privacy, my brother 10 years the younger has every apple gadget, and is on every forum or chat room, I can guess where he was and what he did by looking at his Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat. To me it's amazing. Here's my point, how intrusive is U connect? I had a remote update done to the truck a few days ago, it looks like they 'FCA' can remote into the truck at will. I'm wondering how comfortable others are with the access to our vehicles? " I'm not worried because I'm not doing anything I'm not supposed to do so they are welcome to look at me anytime day or night"...... " I will share information about myself at my will, not at the whim of corporate big tech".......

I try to reduce my digital footprint as much as possible. I have the 7” uConnect so no connection up or down. I use a VPN at all times, two factor authentication whenever possible, have no social media accounts other than this one and a few other specialty accounts, limit what apps have access to GPS data, voice, and the camera, etc. But I’m sure someone motivated enough could find out all kinds of information about me.

I take pleasure in always having advertisements online that clearly were complete shots in the dark as far as targeting goes. Tampons? Sure! Schizophrenia medication? Makes total sense! I love how wrong they are.

I'm not sure what it does or if I have it. My phone says connect to UConnect so I assume so. I have an app the dealer had me install, but says not subscription active and the UConnect link in the Jeep/Mopar owners site doesn't do anything. I recall my salesman when trying to setup said something along the lines my Jeep may not have it because it's a manual. Seems odd, figured I could at least lock and unlock my vehicle with the phone, check tire pressure etc as I seen you YouTube videos. So I would think it wouldn't matter if it's manual or auto and more radio dependent. I have the smaller of the two radioes.

Well I always like to learn so I did some research and......

Jeep Wrangler JL Anyone enjoy a level of privacy from U connect? 1617403760340

Those pink and purple connectors are fakra D , GSM cellular connections, the JL has two inputs, 'we want robust communications' but disconnecting them only degrades the signal, it will still communicate. So into the head unit....

The Qualcomm 4G Sierra Wireless AirPrime card, FCA's little tattle teller....

Removing this card will not allow a GPS signal to feed the nav, so they have embedded the 4G with the GPS thru the card, ok let's disconnect the antenna feed lines and see what one is only GPS....

Leave 'blanco' installed and remove the other two.....Wa-La, no more connection to mothership...

Apparently there are others looking to do this, I found a similar thread
https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/disable-gps-tracking.40185/

Doing it this way will solve the Nav, GPS signal issues........

Needs more testing, I'll have to disconnect the antenna leads again, maybe with both internal and external antennas disconnected it might not communicate, it caught a weak signal in town.....

Sorry to wake the dead thread, but do you have any update on your experiments?

Would love to be able to take my jeep off the grid if SHTF. Would it be possible to put the non-blanco wires on switches so they could be disabled more easily and/or routinely, or would there be too much signal loss?
