Hi all new here.
Just acquired a 2011 Rubicon December 2021.
I'm finding out now some jeep issues such as problems with electrical grounds, n more.
First issue I've had was the plsstic thermostat housing leaking, remedied that with an online improvement. Second cruise control worked the day I bought it , then has been intermittent since. Have had it at the dealer to fix several times, replaced the steering wheel switch twice, the clockspring, and still intermittent. Next was a code for oxygen sensor ended up being a bad ground someplace, then cruise worked consistently for almost 3-6 months now acting up just like before.
I'm sure AC worked when I got it but it was December of course don't recall using it or if it worked the next summer (last year) but had a long trip this summer 2023, and it didn't work. Light on dash when button pressed wors but no cold air. I got ac recharge kit but of course if compressor won't kick in nuttin works.
So yesterday I decided to begin a simple diagnosis. I observed the ac compressor clutch not kicking in, so I applied 12 v to the compressor terminals, and it clicked in ran vehicle with this setup and got cold air and pressure was at 35lbs. Checked continuity and ac wiring harness got current to one side so I'm sure that part of wiring is functioning. Guess the trouble may lie elsewhere such as a sensor someplace (low pressure etc) or?...
This is as far as my knowledge and diy goes without additional information from other more knowledgeable individuals.
Hopefully someone may be of help?
Thanks.
Regarding the inherent jeep problems of grounds where all do I find these that can be checked and improved on that affect the electrical components such as cruise and more even headlights as it appears one is a tad dimmer than the other.
Helpful assistance is greatly appreciated.
