We enjoy drives through the country side with our FJ40 with the windshield folded forward. So when our Jeep arrived we wanted to give it a try. We were in Cades Cove, stuck in traffic, so I removed the bolts for the windshield the first time. I started to fold it forward but then remembered I also needed to remove the wipers first. Ah, it would have to wait since I figured they wipers would be press-fit a bit, and hard to get off.
The next day our Bestop Sunrider arrived and I installed it. That evening when we went for an evening ride, I went to fold down the windshield and found the Sunrider drip rail overlaps a bit of the windshield gaskets. I was able to fold down the windshield but realized it was going to be difficult to get it back into place.
It wasn't a big deal. I took out the four bolts on the Sunrider rails, tipped it back a bit, and was able to get the windshield and rubber gaskets back in place with the Sunrider. Just a few more bolts, but wanted to mention it.
It seems the Sunrider has changed looking at installation videos. Also, I'm not sure whether the gaskets I have are unique to the Rubicon X. I had read the X had some additional sound deadening and not sure if any of the door gaskets are different.
Reassembled. Not super happy about the stock gasket bent down like it is. When the door closes it appears to go into place, but wonder how it's going to wear.
