This is my first Jeep Rubicon and was curious if there is options from companies and a spot to mount a flag to the front bumper for the sand dunes. What options is there to not scratch the tow hook all up if mounting one to that? Thanks everyone for any help!

If you have the steel bumper, just take the end cap off on the passenger side, and the hole is already there! It angles it out a bit to prevent contact with the grille. Mine never once tagged it.

What’s the purpose of the flag?
It helps people see you on the other side of hills. This is especially helpful on sand dunes, where you might not see someone running around on the other side of a smaller one. It doesn't do much for the big hills or dunes, though. The day-glo orange also helps for visibility in wooded trails.

Gotcha. Thanks for the explanation, makes perfect sense.

Any chance you have a link to where I can get this flag? Do you need any additional stuff to secure it to the bumper? Thanks

I bought it at The Badlands off-road park in Attica, Indiana. I'm not sure where to get one on-line.

They make them there and attach the flag to a bolt head. Then, you just stick it through the hole and use the nut and lock washer, which come with it.

I just checked their web site and they don't have them there. I'll check Silver Lake sand dunes, too. You really don't need anything, but I've thought about a big washer or two to offer a little more support.

You might call The Badlands at 317-765-2981 and see if they would let you purchase one over the phone and have them ship it to you. They can give you descriptions of several options they have, including one with a spring base. The flags themselves are a nice day-glo orange mesh that say Badlands on them.

One more thing...I want to say the flag bolt is 1/2".

Do you have to fully remove the end on the passenger side or can you still install with it on?

It has to be removed, but it is very easy.
