I figured I'd start a new thread on this tire since Falken officially teased it today on their social media pages.

I have a hard time calling it the A/T4W because the A/T3W was the 2nd generation Wildpeak A/T tire, and also because Falken themselves said the "3W" had a specific meaning (winter/wet/wear...the three key areas of focus for the tire). So calling the new tire the A/T4W makes NO sense and my OCD kicks in. But, everybody is calling it that, so....

Anyway, they teased the tire today and they purposefully did NOT show a still image of the tread design. However, from what we could clearly see the proprietary design of molding around the bead is there. Falken said that design kept the bead cooler and provided a little protection when the A/T3W debuted back in February 2016, and they kept that design on the M/T tire as well. Oddly, my R/T tires did not have it. But this new A/T4 apparently will.

Also, the sidewall tread design over the shoulder appears to be very similar to the current A/T3W tire. Maybe just a little more aggressive, but the same look.

Only thing I can tell about the tread is that there are still tightly packed center tread, with open circumferential grooves on either side of these, and then the outer tread lugs appear to still be perpendicular to the shoulder like the current tire. Until we get still images we won't know for sure, but it appears that the new tire is an evolution of the current tire, NOT a brand new tire. In my opinion that's not a bad thing, as the A/T3W is still the best all-terrain tire I've ever reviewed to date.

Knowing Falken's track record, I'm betting this new tire will go on sale Q1 2024, and likely about halfway through the quarter, so probably February.

Wonder if this is gonna be a similar approach like what BFG did with the new KO3. Minor changes/updates for slightly more grip in all conditions. ?

I took a chance on Falken with my 2020 Outback. The tire it came with were poor to say the least. The Falken Wildpeaks changed the looks and the capabilities of that car and for a tire that will do that, say as a lot. With almost 40K miles on the first set, I will be buying another set for next winter.

My Jeep, once the Destination MT’s wear out will get these also.

I tried the Wildpeaks on my single cab F250 after my Toyo AT's. Overall they wore very well, were quiet and had great grip in all weather. But, the lower price yielded its ugly head in poor sidewall stability. I could feel the sidewall flex pretty significantly in corners compared to the more expensive Toyo's. Hopefully, they have addressed this issue as well.

I had the toyo open country 3 on my mega cab drw they lasted about 24k miles and they were done. I have the wildpeaks now and they are hands down a better tire. Better life as they are at 28k now and still lots of life left. Better in wet, way better in snow, just a better tire. I saw no difference in handling between the tire brands and im occasionally loaded to over 40k truck and trailer.
Both sets were the same size and load range, 255/80 17 lre.
I have the WP on my jeep in 37 x 12.5 17's no regrets.

That's interesting. The Wildpeak has one of the thickest most robust 2-ply sidewalls I've ever seen and I've been around a lot of tires. I wouldn't expect sidewalls to be an issue a Falken tire would have.

Yeah definitely an evolution of the existing tire. I hope the new rubber compound is as good as the current one. It makes me nervous that they changed that. Oh well, I have a set on order so I'll review them and we'll find out!

Where'd you find a place to order them?
