Hey,

Last week I installed a set of Diode Dynamics Elite Max headlights and Elite fog lights. Install went good and everything has been working fine with no issues. Today I got the turn signal out alert with hyperflash and checked to find turn signals and DRL out on both sides. Neither my factory side markers nor the headlight DRLs were lit. I cycled everything and checked wiring but had no luck. A short time later, when I started it up everything worked for a couple minutes but then out again.

One of the main reasons I chose these were because they were plug and play. I reached out to DD but have not heard back. Does this mean I need a programmer or resistors? Or is there something I’m missing?

Thanks in advance!

Did you have LED headlights previous to swapping in the Elite's?

If not you may need to use a Tazer type device to change the settings to led.

I had the led package from the factory and when I switched out the headlights for the DD Elite Max lights, they were plug and play and function perfectly.

Another thing to pay attention to is how are you turning them on? As you know, you program the lights using the headlight switch. Thereafter I never touch that switch and just leave everything on auto. If you're cycling your lights via the switch, is it possible that you're turning the DRL's off and on?

I had halogens. But everything I read said the DD Elite Max was plug and play with factory halogen. But maybe not. And I also leave mine on auto. I cycled them hoping to get them on. Unless they respond back with a different solution, not resistors, I guess I’ll have to get a Tazer after all.

Is the Tazer Mini worth the cost over the Lite? Besides lights, the ESS shut off is the only other thing I’ll use for the foreseeable future. Is there any issues with buying a refurbished model from Z Automotive? I’ll probably get the extension as well.

I think the extension cable is just plain convenient. I wouldn't worry about refurbished vs new if purchasing direct from Z Automotive. I don't know the cost difference between the two versions, but I have the mini and have used it for larger tires, upgraded gears, etc... in addition to killing the ESS. If you can afford it, the buy once cry once policy may apply here.
