Easy trail suggestions

Hey all, now that I sold my TJ project for an actual running Jeep I’d like to take my boys (11 & 13) on their first trail ride. We moved to Salem Oregon recently and I don’t know much about what’s available for jeeping here.

can someone recommend a nice easy trail ride that maybe has some hiking near by?Places to stop and eat some lunch on the trail, maybe with some good views?

I'm not familiar with OR trails but I'm planning on doing the OR BDR-- https://ridebdr.com/ORBDR/ --in the near future. BDRs are normally easy trails for stock Wranglers, unless it has snowed recently. The OR BDR passes by Detroit (~1 hr from Salem) and intersects the Pacific Crest Trail, Oregon National Historic Trail, and National Recreation Trails.

I've seen very little activity on this forum about trails and get-togethers. I'd suggest a social media group such as the Pacific Northwest Jeep (PNWJeep) or Cascades Oflfroad & Overland groups on Facebook.

Off course another good way to find appropriate trails for you is to use OnX Offroad or Trails Offroad apps.

You can always go out to the Tillamook State Forest and run all the logging and forest roads in the area and drop on to trails when you want a little more challenge. Tillamook State Forest is west of Portland.

The trails can be mild like this

The forest roads and and logging roads are super smooth and we towed our camper up to the trails we planned to run.
