As I shop for a roof setup to carry a couple light kayaks, I seem to be landing on cross bars that attach in the drip rail of my JL hardtop. But now I’m concerned about damaging the paint of the body-color roof. (I liked the look of the solid color all over but now am wondering if a flat black roof might have been more practical..?)
Are there cross bar models that have more “cushioning” in the clips than others? Or are there products designed to protect the drip rail underneath the clips? Obviously nothing too thick to lose the grip of the connection, but maybe some kind of membrane or film?
Thanks!
