Going to install a set of Dominator D1 from Go Rhino this weekend. Everyone says to loosely install the brackets onto the rails before installing on the Jeep. So, I'm good there. A lot of people also talk about the bolt threads having paint in them and causing issues. Some say they've resolved this by tapping the threads. I'm not that familiar with taps so what size tap should be used here? Any other advice would be appreciated.

No replies so I'll answer my own question so this one can be closed. A helpful Lowe's employee saved me $60 and told me I didn't need to tap the threads to clear them. As he suggested, I sprayed them with WD-40 and the bolts threaded right on through. No problem. As everyone else has posted, the instructions are terrible. The job would be cut in half if they provided detail on how to line up the middle bracket on the step. Not too difficult to figure out but just took a little redo to get it right. It is difficult to explain here. Maybe that's why they didn't put it in the instructions.
