I have an Icom 2730A ham radio installed in my JL. Anyone tried a Compactenna on a Jeep Wrangler? I have a Larson 2/70 mounted on the driver's side cowl on a stainless steel bracket grounded to the body. It's not the greatest and I know the Larson is a good antenna, my wife has one on a roof rack mount on her Subaru Outback and with the two vehicles parked side by side she can hear transmissions that only come across as static or barely readable. She's got the metal roof of the car for a ground plane while I have the hood for part of the ground plane. Photo below is the existing setup.
