Commuters and daily drivers

I have an 80 mile commute each day, 400 miles a week. I was racking up miles quick with my JKR so I decided to get a cheap hoopty to perform the pedestrian duties of a daily driver. I have since upgraded to the JLUR and it seems silly to have a $50k vehicle sit in the driveway, but I have no regrets on having my daily driver.

2003 Focus ZX5, 2.0l Zetech, 5 sp manual,

208k on the clock, cold A/C, and gets 33 mpg consistantly.

I probably only average 8-10k miles per year, but put on about 12k the first year I had my JK, mostly because I was also driving for pleasure in addition to necessity. I started riding my old Honda Helix again this summer to cut back on the Jeep miles a little. Mostly just to work and short errands when it isn't raining, but it usually ends up being 2-3k miles during the riding season. I also like that the 65 mpg on the Helix offsets the costs of the 18-19 mpg JK.

I have a similar commute, but I'm doing it in my JLR. If I'm gonna be stuck on the road for 2+ hours a day, I should at least be stuck in a convertible with a kick-ass stereo.

It's not that I don't want to drive it, but I don't want to pile on the miles. FWIW, I drove it to work today
