If you get a diagnosis or resolution please post here. I'm getting the same hard clunk going into reverse or drive on a cold start. I have a 20 JLUR with 43K on the odometer. I've heard it a little since new, but I think it's getting worse. Initially I thought it was the parking pawl and it didn't really concern me, but after experimenting with the suggestions here, I see it doesn't matter if I use the parking brake or shift to neutral first. Feels like it's related to the higher idle speed when cold.
