So there's been some posts in other threads that, given the high volume of posts these days, may be hard to find so I figured I'd start a thread for those with an interest in Chicago area dealers (or even Northern Illinois/NW Indiana) and what they are offering in terms of sale pricing.

Just happened to look at the dealer closest to me today, Marino on Irving Park Rd, and noticed they had a number in stock as well as more on the way - and were listing them all at discounts off MSRP. I'm a little jaded when it comes to Chicago area car dealers based upon my own experience so this was a bit of a surprise. Anyway, among the many Sport models they are listing they are showing a Rubicon in-stock (picture and VIN) and 3 more on the way - all with published discounts off of MSRP.

The Rubi they have is optioned as follows:
  • Black Freedom Top® 3-Piece Hard Top
  • 50 State Emissions
  • Firecracker Red Clear Coat Exterior Paint
  • Electronic Infotainment System Group
  • Jeep® Active Safety Group
  • Steel Bumper Group
  • 8-Speed Automatic Transmission
  • 3.6L V6 24V VVT Engine w/ ESS
  • Remote Proximity Keyless Entry
  • Leather-Trimmed Bucket Seats
  • Black Interior Color
  • Customer Preferred Package 24R
  • LED Lighting Group
  • Cold Weather Group
MSRP is $52,150, discounted $4,578 for a sale price of $47,572. That's about 9% off of MSRP. Haven't looked up the FWP on that specific combo to see how that relates to invoice. As someone who's willing to travel for a good deal but would, of course, prefer to buy close to home given a chance I find this encouraging that they are listing these with a discount on in-stock items before even beginning the negotiation.

Anyway, just FYI. I'll be searching around other area dealers and will pass on what I'm finding. Hopefully together we can share and build a knowledge base of what local dealers are doing. In the meantime there's a Red Rubi on W Irving Park Rd we locals can check out - who knows how long it will last.

Doh! Editing to add link to vehicle as well as it's stock and VIN #'s.

JL Rubicon on order
At Wickstrom Jeep in Barrington I got about the same deal on a 2 Dr Rubicon order (4.6% under invoice and I have a tread lightly code). They also gave me the best trade in on my 2015 JK of all the NW suburban dealers. I have bought a number of Jeeps from the them so I might be getting a frequent customer discount treatment. And good people to deal with unlike a few of the other dealers around here who use the high pressure sales tactics (for example the Arlington Heights dealer).

Thanks digital; so assuming they accept affiliate discounts (I'm eligible via both my employer and Costco membership) looks like it could be 5.4% with zero haggling - on an in stock vehicle, no less. I'm impressed. Of course I'll have to order as I want a manual, premium soft top (only) and Ocean Blue but I knew that. :) Also means they might be amenable to a little further pencil sharpening for ordered vehicles.

Very possibly so. I have found luck in getting a written offer from another dealer and then using that as a bargaining chip for the closer dealer. My local dealer didnt want to match, which is fine, but i know for a fact that they came down on their price instantly to try to get me to buy from them. Good luck!

OK, so I poked around at other dealers close to me (so far I'm just looking at what their websites say to gauge where they're at, recognizing that actual contact with them could yield much better results) and the next closest - Napleton's Northwestern CDJ (Western & Petersen, N side) just lists MSRP and advises to call for "best price". Fields CDJ up in Glenview lists MSRP and "Fields Price" . . . which is also MSRP. Doh!

So then I move out to Oak Park for Hawk Auto, a large dealership group in the area that I know of mostly because of their Blackhawks sponsorship LOL, and find they are also discounting right on their website. Nothing crazy until I'm scrolling through the many loaded Sport S's they have in stock and find an outlier. All of them appear to have same config with a MSRP of $40,270 and a discount of $2,218 until . . . $9,742 discount for dealer price of $30,528??? Whaaaat? Gotta be a mistake. So for once I actually click on that ubiquitous annoying chat popup all these dealer sites throw in your face and try to find out more. I tell the person I think you might have a mistake and I'd like to confirm - that's ~25% of MSRP. She asks for stock #/vin # which I give and then she pops up the listing in the chat window and I confirm that's the one. She asks for my contact info so a sales rep can follow up with me (apparently chat people just troll for sales leads, no surprise) so I give her one of my burner email addresses. I told her I really don't think that's a legit listing and I'm just trying to clarify but guess it's not something she can do. Waiting to hear from sales rep.

This is a loaded Sport S (like every other one they have) in white.

Awesome that someone started this thread for Chicagoland area. I dont want to travel far if possible to get good discounts here near home. I am waiting for fully loaded rubi when the mojito green comes out. I hope the tan leather option goes away and I can choose to pick either black leather or black premium cloth options.

Yes, my deal is better than Koon's when you factor in the doc fee.....so no need for us to travel. There are enough dealers in the Chicagoland area that you can have them negotiate against each other. It's looks like Karl got an excellent deal for one on the lot.

Just to clarify - not my deal, it's actually just what they are listing on their website with no negotiation. So if it's not already sold and somebody local wants a loaded red Rubi hardtop with auto *right* *now* I'd say give Marino a call before it's gone (if it isn't already). I'm probably going to go over on Saturday just to kick some tires in general and if that one's still there crawl around a bit. But in general I'm very happy to see what is actually the most convenient to get to dealer for me listing all of their JL's with very reasonable discounts - on their website! No markups, no nitrogen in the tires, just the IL doc fee and then of course the awesome tax rate I get to pay for the privilege of living in the City of Chicago! :)

I just got back from Larry Roesch near Elmhurst and this is what they offered me. $2k below MSRP on a Sahara. I will be visiting Sherman Dodge in Skokie tomorrow, so I will keep you guys updated. I bought my 15 Cherokee at Sherman so I’m really hoping they can beat this offer.

They also have a black sahara on the lot at Roesch and a Sport. Features on the sahara include:
-cold weather group
-matching color hard top
-leather seats
-Alpine sound system
-black and grey wheels

I was able to test drive it and it was amazing. The pictures we see online do not compare to how it looks in person. I saw it at night time and the interior looks even better. I was almost sold on this one but it doesn’t have the LED lighting group nor the 8” screen. But tbh the 7” is great. I was not expecting it to be so clear, literally LED clear display and still pretty big. If it had the LED lighting group and not leather seats I was ready to take it home.

Nice. A Sahara with cloth on the lot? Are dealers even ordering those? From my searches it's hard to find any dealer orders that aren't really optioned out. Kind of surprised they had one without LED - wonder if that was a customer order that backed out?

Yeah, I don’t think there are any with cloth seats. If any of you come across one with everything I listed on my custom order with or without leather seats lmk. I am leaning more towards granite or white but open to other colors.

Tbh they had just put it on the lot as it was their first JL they showed. The guy didn’t even know they had it so I doubt it was a custom order since they only got two total.

The Arlington Heights dealer as a pretty bare bones Rubicon on their floor with cloth seats. It doesn't have cold weather or many other options.
