After work was done on my new blind assist taillights, some months later I noticed there is a trim or molding piece missing on the left side that should cover the wiring inside the cargo area right behind the taillight on the driver's side. What is that called? The wiring and wiring modules are totally exposed.

I saw that, but that's the bulb access cover. It sits below where the wires come out. The wires are in horizontal position on the wall of the tailgate area (not on the tailgate, to the left) and it is immediately behind where the tail lights are. The wires then are threaded through the panel and floor leading up to the front of the vehicle. It's right at the level of the bottom of the side window. Thanks, though.

There’s nothing missing there. You could push some of the loom back down the hole it’s coming from but that’s about it.
in case you’re referring to the “exposed” section where you can see individual wires, that’s normal and necessary to allow them to spread out to the plug pins. You could, very carefully and loosely, wrap some Tessa tape around that section but you run the risk of adding tension and causing internal wire breaks if done too tightly.

Thanks, JP. I just don't remember all those wires... could be the addition of the blind assist is the difference.

Thanks! They say a picture says a thousand words. Your wires don't protrude as far as the ones on mine. Maybe I'll invent something to fit over it. Who knows. BTW, love your icon pic.

I also found some Tesa tape on Amazon. Maybe I'll design a "cage" for these bad boys...okay, it's the designer aspect in me. I redo old furniture all the time, painting/sanding/reholstering, staining. Fun stuff.

I discovered the wires as I was threading a cable to hook to a rear cam, which I had to take over the roll bar after threading through the trim up front by the sun visor. It was a real PITA. My son installed the main dash cam. Didn't have time to finish, so I did the rear. Got it all going, working. Next time I turned on the Jeep, damn thing flashed on, then off continuously. Tried a different cable, same. Now does not work at all it's a Cobra. So I have ordered the OBDII direct harness. Will try it before I start dismantling everything to pull the cable out he did --- yes, under the trim. I have had trouble with the cigarette lighter before with an adapter to use as a charger for iPhone. I'm beginning to think it's the port shorting for some reason and not the cables. The things we do for our loves.

Thanks, fellows. Appreciate you.
