Hoping someone has a fix for this.....

I had to replace a broken cable release handle about a year ago and recently it stopped working but did not break like before. It was the end of the cable itself. After taking off the seat cover and investigating, I found that the cable end (*see below) that clips in to the "cable release junction box" (*cant find a name or part number for this thing) popped out. It was just hanging there, preventing the seat from adjusting so someone could get in the back. Has anyone else had this issue? I pushed the end clip back in place. TBH, it feels like it should snap in more securely. I find myself having to pull apart the seat and reposition this weekly and sometime more often. Why the hell does this thing not have a cover or at least some sort of snap that closes the entry point for the cable. This has to be the worst design ever, not to mention the $0.05 tonka toy cable release handle that can suck a... I digress.

Anyone know of a solution?

Wild Hare, I wonder if there is a spring missing that would have kept tension on the assy.

It looks like the cable has stretched over time/useage. Perhaps a replacement cable would solve the issue for a while?

To stop it from popping out of its groove, you’d need to fabricate a C shaped piece that can go on the top and bottom with some grub screws to give it tension enough to hold itself in place. Maybe look for some small C section aluminiun?

That is an actual replacement cable - The reflection on the black piece makes it look like the cable is showing but it's just shine (low light, my apologies). Thanks for the advice on the "c" piece. I was also thinking something similar.
