Which style provides better protection on the rocks?
bolt-on or weld-on, does it make a difference?
I’m running LOD Destroyers on my ’19 JLUR which I had to cut to clear the rockers.
Looking for a set for my ’22 JLUR.
What’s everyone’s experience?

Just by looking at what it's attached to, it's pretty clear the body mount will be weaker. There is normally some clearance given up as a trade off as the frame is lower than the body.

I think the strength is the winner, especially since you are not only protecting against rocks vertically, you want the sliders to protect the bottom of the door when you contact a rock from the side.

Look at White Knuckle Off-road. I have their sliders. They are bolt on. You do have to drill 2 holes in the frame for maximum protection. You can weld them if you really want to. You can see videos of them lifting the vehicle with just them. I used them in Moab, and they saved my rockers numerous times. Highly recommend. Oh, and you don't have to remove a single body mount bolt to install them. Also, you can order them in a 45 or 90 degree if you want to use them as a step. Here is the link to the website. https://white-knuckleoffroad.com

The JL employs a high strength steel frame. It is thinner than on previous Wranglers so I would recommend sliders that attach high and low rather than in the center of the frame.

I don’t think the frame is heat treated so welded or bolted is a matter of personal preference and ability.

Body mounted are best for multi-purpose rigs, lighter and higher clearance but not up to heavy hits.

My stock rubi body mounted rails pressed into the body from impacts creasing it in the middle. So they are not ideal. Though that being said they took some decent whacks and it's only a light crease.

I now have bolt on frame mount rough county sliders

I have VKS Informant sliders that are welded to the frame. Super strong and hard to beat IMO.

I like my LOD signature series. Bolts onto the frame and is also a step.
