Better XM Reception with Soft Top

I recently decided to purchase a soft top for my JLU. The one thing I noticed immediately was that my XM radio did not drop out like it used to. There was always certain spots on the road where the radio would drop out and now the audio is solid. Yes fall is coming, but the change was immediate. One day I had drop outs in certain areas and the next, after installing the soft top, the drop outs were gone (the roof was not open). I'm wondering if the hard top is not completely RF transparent.
