I helped pull a car out of a small ditch this weekend and I used a tow strap connected to a receiver shackle mounted in the hitch. I've always used that method with my other trucks because they lacked rear two hooks.

So if you're pulling someone or getting pulled, which would be the better location, the rear two hook or a receiver shackle mounted in the hitch?

I think it has more to do with the position of the vehicles involved where you would hook up.

I got a CURT 2" receiver that I mounted directly to the frame. That's the strongest option I found when I was researching this same thing a couple years ago. The CURT 2" is heavier duty than the one from Mopar, thicker steel all the way around. I bought it specifically with recovery in mind, (I don't tow trailers) as I have two new teenage drivers navigating a fair amount of winter snow.

Best,
