Just wondering: My daughter's Sport S JL will be coming with the 3.6, Auto and 3.45 gears with limited slip: going to 285/70/17's, would it be adviseable to change the gearing in the dif's at all? generally speaking, what kind of a mil.,eage difference would going from 3.45 to 4.10 make on a "mostly around town" rig? any other suggestions for gearing (My daughter and I actually know a guy who owns a diff. shop: she & I did his daughter's wedding photography, so I'm certain I could get a deal on the change...but will it be needed?

Personally I think 4.10s should be the standard from the factory with 285/70R17s. I test drove about a dozen different JLs and JTs before picking up a JLUR with 6 speed. I thought the 3.45 gears were too tall even on the stock tires. The 4.10s in the JLUR are just about right for a daily driver on 285/70R17. I imagine on a lighter weight 2dr sport they would be great.

Not worth it for 285/70/17! Now if you are going to throw on some bigboy 37s, I would say yea! Regear away! Also why would you regear from 3.45 to 4.1? If you are going to spend all that money and labor to regear, go big, or go home!

With 35s on my 2.0L I’m getting around 21 mpg.
