Jeep and FCA more broadly aren’t know for their tight tolerances on differentials. The half ton truck axles have terrible failure rates, but somehow our jeeps seem to be just fine, even with the slop.

They don't pay extra for better QA/QC from their suppliers.

Funny thing is when the e-coat wasn't good enough on Toyota brake parts we'd spray paint them gloss black and send them on to Toyota, they never noticed the difference and built cars with spray painted brake parts. So if you can get away with that at Toyota what do Stella suppliers get away with...?
