I had to recently replace my battery on my 2020 jeep wrangler Sahara unlimited. I know I needed to replace my Aux battery. I saw a video that the auxiliary was under the fuse box. So I took it all apart and like Geraldos tomb it wasn't there. Could it be some place else ?

If your Jeep is in original factory condition you probably have a 48 volt Etorque battery about the size of a small suitcase under the Jeep which still comes with an empty Auxillary battery box which is most safely accessed through the inner fender liner. Otherwise someone beat you to it. Take a quick look under your Jeep. This battery is not serviceable by the owner.

No…one or the other. If you see the 48 volt Etorque battery under the Jeep you will not have a small secondary 12 volt battery from the factory. Just an empty auxillary battery box.

The 48 volt battery under the Jeep has an 8 year 80k mile warranty and is a fairly complex system including coolant lines and an inverter and is not something an owner should be messing with.

*IF* you do not have the 48V system and *if* your aux battery has already been removed, do yourself a favor and don't replace it. Its a terrible system, leads to the early death of batteries, and will leave you stranded once it fails.

Others may disagree but to normalize the practice of replacing 2! batteries every 2-3 years is just insane. My Jeep is the first vehicle I have owned in 40 years in which the batteries needed to be replaced after such short periods of time.

You also should disable the auto stop / start if you have not already. Its annoying for one. It saves a de minimus amount of gas and puts X times the number of starts on your starter and engine. rant over

I took all of it apart there isn't any cables to even hook another battery too. Its odd as hell.

Did you buy it used? All JLs have either an aux, etorque or 4xe battery from factory.

So just to clarify and not to be insulting, you actually looked under your Jeep and did not see anything where the arrow in my pic is pointing?

I’m not talking about a plug in hybrid, just a different secondary battery system.

If the removal of the Aux battery has already happened, you need to remove fuse F42. In fact if the person that took the Aux battery out did it correctly F42 should already be missing, check your fuse box. If its gone you arent using the Aux battery. This is the Power control fuse (f42)that switches ess on and off

I'll look today, im completely new to all of this and slightly pissed. I traded in a Buick envision when I got this and I had to report all modifications. ( race suspension etc ) im sure they asked the same when the jeep came. I unhooked all of it just to see it all missing. Lol even the cables were removed. Its crazy. Good I guess but just odd. I now have to check to see if it has a Tazer ? Something about you have to use this to reprogram it when you remove the battery. No clue.
