Hello all,

I installed a dash cam this past summer, and wired it to my AUX4 switch. I then configured it in Uconnect to come on with the ignition. Worked perfect, although I thought.

What I have noticed every once in a while is that the camera isn't on when isbtaet the Jeep. I look down and yup, the switch is off. I turn it on, camera starts, and everything is good. It's completely random, sometimes the aux switch doesn't turn on with the ignition.

Has anyone else seen this before? The only reason for the concern of course is that the camera isn't running when you think it is. I've had a few incidents where I would have liked to have my footage and noticed it wasn't running.

use wire #5 if you want it on - off with the ignition.
use wire #6 if you want it live all the time.

I hear you on that. Just that I installed it the way I did because the Uconnect software is supposed to allow you to control the option of ignition/remember last setting, so that I CAN turn it on/off when I want without rewiring it.
It's like the software itself has a brain fart the odd time, either not storing what the last know switch position was when you turn off the vehicle, or not restoring the last know switch position when you start the vehicle.

I have seen the dash display “AUX switch to available, battery charging”.
After driving a few miles, the AUX switches became available.
Hope it doesn’t occur when the winch is needed

I've never seen any message like this in my Jeep.

@nextreme

I have had my 2018 JL since 2018. Yes, I have the Aux package. Yes, occasionally / not, very often have an Aux switch set up as you mention, hiccup and not do as it was supposed to do.. not do as I set-up.

Unfortunately, nature of the beast and no way it will be hiccup free, unfortunately.

Consider wiring with the camera using the "Direct to Battery" wire (it's 10 amp fuse protected) in the front passenger side Aux bundle. Do that and also add an on/off switch to the mix, so you have the control your desire.

Using the direct to battery wire... no hiccups, no Aux unavailable issue.
