Are All Mopar Warranties the Same?

That’s odd because the mopar extended care says it covers electrical…just not lights or their housing. Was it not max care for your warranty?

The document I have calls it a Certified Pre Owned warranty. It covers for 7 years and 100,000 miles with a $100 deductible, including rental.

The dealer that did the diagnostic was not the dealer that sold me my Jeep, but they knew the warranty existed because it's tied to my VIN in their computer system.

Yea, I don't see max care in the description. It seems odd that the dealer didn't try to sell one. They made it sound like it was a big deal to have this warranty included. This is why I hate shopping for cars.

That’s why I’m here trying to research after getting a new jeep. Car dealers, especially used lots are some of the worst places one has to interact. There are a few good ones out there I’m sure, but I haven’t found them.
When I was in the military they had to ban dealerships. You get dealers selling cars to kids with 20-40 percent interest rates. All they saw was $400 a month…..for 10yrs lol

when you pull it up on the mopar owners site what does it say? this is what mine shows. Jeepcares gave me this because of my jeep being down for 45 days for warranty work as a goodwill gesture..

I bought my 2021 JLUR last year from a Jeep dealer and they included a Mopar 100,000 mile/$100 extended warranty. They said I could deduct $400 of the sales price if I declined. I thought for that price, I'll take it.

My first experience trying to use it was bad. I had a rear locker sensor go bad (common problem). I was charged $135 diagnostic fee before I was told the sensor is an electrical item and not covered, even though axles and drivetrain are covered.

This experience parallels every extended warranty I've ever purchased. Either claim denied, or repairs would have been cheaper than the cost of the warranty.

I used the Ford extended warranty, a few weeks ago - $100.00 deductible - at my local Jeep dealership to replace the transfer case on my '18 Wrangler, it was seamless.

My qualms with the Mopar contract haven't to do with disqualifying claims, it's more along the lines of where and by who the warranty work can be completed (From time to time they update the language in these contracts - the current version that I've read has limitations that are of concern to me.)

My Wrangler travels long distances, so being able to have it serviced by any "ASE?" certified shop has a bearing on it. Let's put it this way, there aren't many Mopar service centers between my home and where I often travel. When asked how far something is along my typical routes, we don't respond with how many miles it is, but how many hours it is.

No, as I said in my initial post, I have a Ford extended care plan for my Wrangler, but the way I set it up, both my wife's Mopar plan and my Ford plan have the same duration, mileage, deductible, level of protection, etc. Look around the auto industry, most of the majors offer some form of an extended warranty, though some only to their brand, Ford for one extends their warranty to other brands.

You're doing the right thing here, this is just one leg in due diligence. Know the terms of the contract before you walk in, know the realistic price you should pay, the deductible, duration, mileage and level of coverage you're after and state it up front along with how you'll be paying for it, and be prepared to politely disengage if the finance office won't meet your numbers. There is no shortage of major brand dealers out there, nor extended warranty providers, so it's not like you've got to make the deal with the first dealership.

Got it, thanks. I just find it interesting that ford dealers would be knowledgeable in jeep service and have the parts. I just it’s all computers and mail order these days anyway

Is Granger a 3rd party non-mopar warranty? The prices seem comparable to the mopar price but offer rental car and lights for a small fee

Great question! When you purchase an ESP from us, it is a Genuine Mopar Warranty. We just sell you that at a discount of $25 over dealer cost.

I always figured "removing" the Certified warranty was a money game. It's already priced in if you take it in place, they make a few hundred more bucks if you take it off.

That's pretty clear now. When I bought my Jeep in 2024, the dealer never tried to sell me anything extra, just the included Mopar CPO warranty.

I see vast differences in pricing. My Jeep dealer wants to charge like 2000 more then this site. Are they the same warranty/product? It sure looks like it

Nothing you can buy for a Mopar is an "extended warranty" no matter what they tell you or say. Only the original manufacturer can sell extended warranties and the Mopar one says it's a "service policy". They are all written by attorneys to make money for the sellers.

In my state we cannot buy warranties online.
In my book, when it comes to dealerships and extended warranties everything is negotiable - within reason.

We bought my wife's Willies about three weeks ago in a full cash deal. During our time with the finance guy at the dealership we got pitched over and over and over again, the Mopar extended warranty plans. Even though I had no intention of purchasing the warranty from him, I held on to each of his descending price offers on a Maximum Care, 7 year, 100,000-mile, $100 deductible plan.

This past Sunday we met with the finance officer at our local Jeep dealer and were right up front with him about the other Jeep dealers' lowest price on that specific plan. I told him that if he could substantially beat that price, we'd cut the check for the full price on the spot.
He did and we did. All told it took maybe twenty-five minutes.

I will add something to think about when it comes to Mopar extended warranties. If you travel with your Jeep, you might want to read the fine print in the current version of actual contract about where and by who the warranty can be serviced. Sales guys are likely to tell you anything to get you to sign but read the contract first.

...and just too muddy the water a little further. While my wife is comfortable with the Mopar plan on her Wiilys - and I guess I am too, to some degree. When it was time for me to pony for an extended warranty on my Wrangler, I actually bought the highest-level Ford Motor Company plan. I've used that warranty at Non-Mopar and Jeep dealers and for the most part it's been seamless, regardless of where life takes me and my Wrangler....and yes, I managed to whittle the cost of that plan down to a fraction of what the dealerships opening price salvo was.

Hey David. Just curious where did you purchase your Ford contract for your wrangler? Did u just get in contact with a Ford dealer near you and negotiated from there? Is it the same terms and contract wording as the contract for a ford vehicle? (Just wanting to take a look at an example contract online for an idea on conditions
/limitations etc) and if you don't mind telling how much you paid for it? Trying to get an idea of how it compares to a Mopar plan. Thanks for any help and info!
