I have AMP Research power running boards on my 2021 Wrangler JLU. I have been having problems with the battery going dead when the Jeep has been parked for a few days. I have narrowed it down the the running boards. Are there any known problems with these running boards causing problems like this?

Problems with accessories that plug into OBDll port 24/7, 365 / using the OBDll port port 24/7, 365 on a JL or JT have been reported here and there over the years.

Excessive, parasitic draw from a device plugged into the OBDll port that does not go to sleep properly after use.... and/or .... the device keeping UConnect awake or awakening UConnect intermittently thus causing UConnect related battery depletion.

I know I myself refrain from leaving any device plugged into the OBDll port unless it is a given/is absolutely tried and tested, that the device does not do the negative behaviors mentioned.

Hopefully, other AMP Research power running boards users can spew their experience.

I found this on a tundra web site when I had a problem. It's a number of years old, but still correct information. I got a new controller from Amp Research under the 5 year warrantee and that took care of the battery drain..

replied email from AMP:

There is a test that can be performed to confirm the controller is the issue. Remove the fuse in the fuse holder on the red wire in our wire harness that connects to the positive side of the battery. Next, use a Multi-meter and insert the black and red probe into the fuse holder making contact with the (2) female terminals inside. When you read the amp draw it should not exceed 12 milli-amps. If it does then the controller has a relay inside that is bad and if you supply me your address and phone # I will send a replacement controller. Part# 19-03297-A06. The reason I like to confirm with a test is so we only do this once and you do not have to waste your time by calling back and being as AMP will cover this under the 5 year warranty that is on the part, means we are sending a free part and paying the frt. So I like to it right the first time. https://www.tundratalk.net/threads/electric-amp-step-running-battery-down.257753/

I wasn't aware that they now use the ODB2 port. My running boards are the old style where they hook up to the door harness not the ODB2 port. I called the manufacture and they are sending me the new style ODB2 style wire harness under warranty.
