There are other discussion threads to rant about 68C etc which the OP is aware of. Can we get back on topic?

The OP asked a good question. Note he is talking about a Sahara not a Rubicon. Can anyone confirm whether the Sahara allows adequate clearance for 35's without installing a lift package? I may be wrong but I thought the Rubicon because of its higher stock clearance was fine with 35's but the Sahara wouldn't be. Any Sahara owners able to confirm one way or the other?

Can confirm that 35's on a Rubicon 4xe with no lift is only an issue when wheeling, fully flexed/full lock (12.5s)

For a Sahara, I would go narrower and maybe a spacer lift/wheel spacers or offset after the fact as needed. (Source: Jeep 4xe Fans Facebook group)

You choices will vary depending if keep the stock Sahara 20" wheels.

Short answer-yes it can be done, but it's a squeeze, and be prepared to make adjustments if you don't like the results.

Here is a Sahara with 35", he did install a mopar lift a few years prior.

I switch from Sahara stock wheels to Rubicon 33", there isn't much range issue, the electric range is mainly for lower speed city driving, and the wheel size from Sahara stock to 35 wouldn't impact that range much.

Highway driving might be a different ballgame with 35 vs Sahara stock, dunnoÂż

Last video is a Sahara 4xe with 37s, they didn't really do anything with it beyond mall crawling.

There are other people that went to 35s on the 20" stock rims without any issues.

One main difference is the fender height. The taller Rubicon/Willys fender gives you more tire clearance than a Sahara/Sport does. My stock Rubicon barely cleared 35s at full flex and had some minor rubbing when hitting bumps with weight in the back. As such, IMO 35s would have a lot more rubbing stock on a Sahara. Maybe ok for daily driving but not for articulation or carrying a lot of weight.

Ok, so what I'm hearing is dodge the 4xe and stick with the gas powertrains despite the good deals on 4xe?? I really love the concept of it and hope Jeep figures this out. May just stick with the V6 for now and hopefully some E type model is out in a few years.
The V6 is reliable? Who knew!

I'm never trusting a 3.6 again. We never did find out exactly what killed the engine in our our '15 besides vague and various cam shaft position sensor codes, but we're still mourning.

Maybe reliable, but old and boring. Time for some innovation which is what I loved about the 4xe. Torque of a V8, better MPG, quieter in E mode, and still have the 2.0 Turbo under the hood. Great idea, just not there yet, I guess.

It doesn't help that the politicians keep switching up the regs from party to party. How are these auto companies supposed to plan and execute when one admin says less gas cars, then the other comes in and does a 180?? Can't blame them, they are trying to do the right thing.

I was being sarcastic.. Oil filter housings, lifter failure, cams getting ate up, etc.. the v6 picture isnt that rosy either. I definitly prefer the 2.0 to the 6.. and I like the 2.0 much more when tied to the electric powertrain, its just fun! We absolutely love our 4xE

Anyone have any experience with changing tires out to 35s on the 4xe? I'm looking at used 2024 models upgrading from my 2018 JLU Sahara. Wondering how the 35s perform on the 4xe and how it affects the electric range?
I switched out my stock 20 inch rims on my 2024 Sport S 4XE for some 17 inch 4XE rims (I wanted the blue Jeep!) with Mickey Thompson 35X 12.5 tires. I had to trim a small piece from the inter fender wells, but otherwise have not had any significant problems on the road or turning lot to lock, or on mild trails. It will definitely need a lift for more aggressive trails.

BTW-bought it new and no problems. I charged it anyway…

What happened to the electric range when you put on the big tires? I know when I put them on my Sahara V6, I went from 17 MPG to about 13 MPG, mostly around town driving, very little highway

I put 33" Mickey Thompsons (285/70R17) on a Sahara 4xe (along with a steel bumper and winch). Milage dropped from around 20 MPG to 16-17 MPG highway. I'm not sure what it did to the electric range, but I could still do my 14 mile commute all electric.

I saw a 2-3 mile range reduction in electric only mode after going to 315s. Power is about the same and I average about 19-20mpg city/highway in hybrid-only with no charge on the battery. they have plenty of power to overcome the increased tire size and the slight reduction isn't worth a gear change. Now if I went to 37s, then yeah, a gear change would be in order.

Range did drop more quickly-I was getting 18.3 miles per full charge around town in electric and now go 16.2. FWIW, I don’t leeadfoot it around town. I’m curious what will happen off road.

Wouldn't want to keep the 20" rims for off roading period and off roading more aggressive trails is the only reason to be looking for 35" on the 17" rims. Seems 33" is the limit for Sahara without any modifications (i.e. 2" lift) unless you find a narrower 35" and/or cut away some of the well liner if you want full articulation on the trail.
