I ordered by 2026 MOAB 392 Mar 3rd and I picked her up from MD May 9th and drove home to Atlanta.

First of all, this thing is a beast, and I love the color and the exhaust.

I stayed off interstate the entire time, stuck to the engine break in instructions for first 500 miles, then all bets were off and I drove her like I stole her.

Just did the first oil change at 881 miles, the oil was black, as expected. I will run this another 1500 miles, then change the oil again.

The awesomeness:

  • Love how the entire Jeep rocks when the 392 wakes up
  • Power is insane - I am used to flooring the 4Xe and get awesome power as well, but this felt even more powerful - may be that's in my head
  • I averaged 17.4 mpg on the way back from MD, that was pleasantly surprising since I was expecting a lot less. A lot of that drive was Blue Ridge Parkway at 45-50 mph
  • Every time I drive her, I have a grin on my face, especially with the SOT full open
Not so Awesomeness
  • That darn Hemi drone
  • Oil filter location - ugh

I am taking this beast over to CO this summer as is to ride some trails and over the winter, planning on moving the Clayton Overland plus 2.5 lift, Falcon SP shocks and 37 BBAT over from the 4Xe to this one. I am still little on the fence, since this 392 will most likely do everything that I want her to do and then some - bone stock.

I also moved from a 4xe to a 392. I think the 4xe is faster to 20-25, but after that, all bets off.

Enjoy the childish fun that the 392 is, I know I do.

There’s at least one extensive thread on the drone. Apparently disabling MDS helps, so use MDS disabling manual shift to see if it helps.

I believe it gets disabled on the off-road plus mode as well, I am yet to play with that one, but yes, manual mode definitely helps. I am getting used to the paddle shifter, already hit it once accidentally when I wasnt planning on

OR+ should, but didn’t on my pre XR. It’s more fun but in town mpg does noticeably suffer so if just running errands I typically don’t use it. Before the NoLimitz I minimized MDS with manual shift whenever cruising, even at slower in town speeds.

Hopefully you filled up your factory under filled tcase, they are all about .5 qt low from the factory and the tcase clutches don't love it!
my list of things to do, change the T-Case and Diff oils at about 1500 miles, but you are right, I should at least top off the T-Case tomorrow

I have been watching some vids about the NoLimitz, but still unsure if NoLimitz hurts the engine or not. There is a dude who made a pretty exhaustive vid on how MDS works and I understood about 15% of what he said, but the takeaway was, either do it by hardware, or dont do at all

Off Road Xtreme — ….. These systems improve efficiency by temporally shutting down cylinders, but they also interrupt oil flow to specific lifters. Over time deposits and tarnish can build up causing lifters to fail out of sync and create the ticking noise. ….
I recommend stopping Hemi Tick before it has a chance to get started. … NoLimitz $275, much cheaper than lifter/cam work…. your ears will thank you too

edit- MDS disabled when the engine is in higher stress modes, ā€œTowā€ on PU’s, also ā€œSportā€ and ā€œTrackā€ on my 15 GCSRT. Nearly exclusively run in ā€œSportā€ for this reason. Yes a very expensive warranty voiding non MDS cam and lifters would be better, but the NoLimitz or other tune still required to NOT shut off fuel and spark.

AWE exhaust helps with the drone and it retains the factory quite/loud mode.

AWE ā€œQuiet Modeā€:CWL: , ain’t no such thing. Quietā€˜er’, actually just right, loud enough to sound good without being a cop magnet.ā€Loudā€ perhaps a bit louder than stock, but just sounds ā€œgoodā€ like a Hemi should …….. the first start
in loud after install inside the shop I got
ā€œa squeeze in my BVD’sā€ :like:

Sweet ride, congratulations !

One day I'll be in same shoes as you are, one day lol. For now im sticking with 4xe.
despite the general feedback and roasting of the platform, my 4Xe has been flawless. Its staying in the family, for now at least
