Ok, that is a bit click baitey. I did seem to manage to head to Vancouver, BC when they happened to be having a snow storm, but it wasn't all that challenging.

But still! The story so far.

So, back in Dec I took delivery of my brand new 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X 4xe in black. I added various features (e.g. winch, sky one touch top, stainless door sill guards, satin black grill). I new the first thing I wanted to was lift and tires. I did a bunch of the "research". You know, when you do searches through youtube? Anyway, I stumbled across @EPIC Adventure Outfitters. They were the first people I saw that did a lift on a 4xe. That looked great which took me down more of their content. I was super impressed with their various builds. Since they are only about 2 hours away frome me, me being based in Seattle, I decided to have them do the work. I gave them a call and had a long conversation with The Ginger where he explained that I really didn't need all that I thought I needed. After hearing what kind of stuff I planned on doing, he came up with a build plan far simpler than I had originally thought. So, I scheduled the appointment about a month out and waited. While I was waiting they made the announcement that they had figured out how to get the Kraken under the new power seats! Well, I emailed them right away begging them to add that to the build.

I shouldn't forget that I, of course, had all kinds of dumb questions about the build over the next few weeks that I peppered them with and they were very patient and gracious.

So, the day before (1/17) the PNW was dealing with really not great weather. Freezing rain, snow, unpredictable temperatures, etc. It was a bit of a mess. I headed up about 9pm and got to my airbnb in Surrey around 11:30pm. The weather definitely slowed me down. The next morning, I woke up at 8am as my partner and I were going to drop Ruby off at the shop bright and early at 9am. We actually got there at 8:55am and everybody was there ready to go. We chatted for a bit, but, since I am not a cool youtuber it was time for me to beat it. That, and the last place I want to hang around in a snow storm is a poorly insulated garage, heh.

We hung out at the airbnb through the next day as there really isn't much do to do in a snowed in Surrey, but that was fine. We generally find ways to entertain ourself.

Anway, on friday we went back to pick Ruby up. She looked lovely. The team there did such an amazing job. She drives great, handles like a dream and looks amazing. I can't wait to get her out on the trails.

What Epic did:

3.5" Teraflex lift
Teraflex Falcon 3.3 SP2 piggy back adjustable shocks
Teraflex falcon Nexus 2.2 steering stabilizer
Mickey Thompson 37" Baja Boss A/T
Method Racing 705 Bead Grip Wheels
Custom front Drive Shaft
Teraflex hing reinforcement and Tire carrier

And, oh yeah, I got the, now working with power seats, kraken! I have already tried it out once and wow, so worth it.

Stupid little things I have done myself
Dead pedal
hood struts
Wolfbox G900 rearview mirror and dash cam
RaceChip GTS

What I am doing next
Rock Slide Engineering Rock Slider Steps
Lights, lights, and more lights. Including Rock Lights
Tailgate Table.

Things I am considering
Gearing: I didn't think I would want this, but after driving it a bit, I am torn. It still drives great, still lots of get up and go, but maybe not quite as much as it used to have. I found a gear ratio calculator that made it look like stepping up to 4.56 would put it back to where it was with the 33" tires.

Brakes: I wouldn't be surprised if I end up doing this. I will and see how fast the current ones wear out first.

Armor: probably something I should consider.

Anway, the trip was so well worth it. The team up at Epic are incrediely knowledgable and such an amazing job. I hope to have them do more of the work that needs to be done. I highly recommend them to anybody else who is looking for a shop to do this kind of work.

Hmm, looks like Epic replaced the Trail Rated badges with their own? Nice touch. Better than a cheap bumper sticker. I recently upgraded to a similar set up, and found that I had to practice getting in and out of the lifted Jeep before I rolled an ankle.

Nice catch! :) Yup, I asked for that. I am not big on stickers but I wanted to give them the shout out for the incredible work they did.

Nice. I was stoked to see Epic make its way on to our boards so it’s good to see a member posting their experience here as well beyond the YouTube content.

One thing I would say about gearing, 4.56 might seem like a great fit for the 4xe on 37’s, but based on how much weight you’re lugging around now on top of what you started with stock, I’d highly recommend looking at 4.88’s instead. You have to remember that the 4xe is constantly changing its power output based on your charge state, if you use 2H or 4H auto, and what mode you’re using. Might seem like overkill now, but you’ll be kicking yourself later after driving on the 4.56 ratio for a while. The stock gears can handle what you’re running around on now, but eventually you’ll want the gears done especially if you’re looking at doing any additional armor. That was my plan up until I bailed for my EcoDiesel. I’m now on stock 3.73’s and considering 4.56’s instead of 4.10’s because I know I’m looking to add more armor on top of what’s already done with 37’s.

It's a nice looking rig you got there. Can I ask how much all of that cost you with labor and parts and such?

I believe somewhere around 13k US? The wheels and tires were absolutely the biggest expense by far, followed by the shocks. I was quite surprised, however, how much the hinge reinforcement and tire carrier cost. Installing everything yourself would also bring the cost down.

Can you make a picture of what the people sitting in the backseat will see of the ARB unit? I'm wondering how exposed it is to passengers kicking it. And does moving the front passenger seat all the way back make a difference?

BTW, how long of a wait was it at the border each way?

No disrespect to Epic.. they do really nice work, but for the folks in the Seattle area, there are two very good shops locally ... @Northridge4x4 is over in Sliverdale and Mule Expedition is out in Issaquah.

There is also Auburn Car Repair & Offroad which is very well respected too.

Now if these were backed up and you could get into Epic sooner than maybe it makes sense to do the trip north.

They are both great options. Although, Northridge isn't all that much closer. Even though you have to cross a border, I think northridge is like maybe 30 minutes closer?

I chose Epic because I had seen their work on other 4xes and I was impressed with what they had done.

How do you like the Wolfbox mirror? I'm considering getting one, but I wasn't sure if the camera would be able to see around the Adaptive Cruise control camera.

Do you mind putting a couple pictures of your viewpoint from the driver seat? The adaptive cruise control box already cuts into my view a little.
