I don't think you guys are getting the point. I had ⅛ tank of fuel on my gas gauge – not so little to warrant disabling the vehicle.
It is basically a low power safe mode that engages when the vehicle detects either low fuel or a fault in the hybrid battery system.
Once you see the red turtle...
It slowed to a crawl for mere seconds before the vehicle decelerated and I had no choice but to pull over (thankfully there was curb space for me on this crowded street).
After that I couldn't get the engine to turn back on.
That's an ignorant response. It's poor engineering. Pretty pointless...
I was driving about 3 hours and wanted to maximize the amount of fuel I would be buying (for reimbursement for a job) just before my final destination. I stopped once just to add a couple of gallons to get me to the gas station near my final stop, so I knew I had enough to get me there.

Okay, so this happened to me today. Wondering what the best course of action is to begin the process of having it replaced without losing my vehicle for a prolonged period?
Typically I have to make an appointment to take it in to my local dealership, but I usually have to leave it there and I...
I can always identify the mark of a truly intelligent and highly evolved specimen by how many times they reply to someone's single comment over a period of a few minutes.
