I'd ordered mine from Fortec4x4, looks like they've still got it there though the price has increased: https://www.fortec4x4.com/products/hitchmount-rack-for-canoes?variant=1650976358425
GREAT point on needing to be willing to bail early with kids if things aren't going well. We did this two trips in a row early on not because things were going poorly, but because she just didn't have multi-day trips in her yet because all of the hiking and stuff tuckered her out, so she wasn't...
Way late to the party on this, and some of it is very fundamental, but I try not to take the fundamentals for granted when someone may read these things just getting into it and not know what's fundamental until they've learned the hard way:
Always pre-chill ice chests.
Freeze some (not all)...
Veteran-owned small business that I believe does all the manufacturing in-house. Mission Systems LLC from what my digging pulls up. https://www.hitchmount-rack.com/
My old pup loved going for rides, sun or snow. This was his default riding position, snoot up against the glass or out the window.
This was his very last ride, took him to the park so he could be grumpy at ducks. He crossed the rainbow bridge just a few hours later. I miss his goofy self...
Hey everyone, as a 2-door/soft top owner that struggled to find a way to haul toys around, I wanted to share my experiences with the hitchmount rack after using it for about a year and a half now with many miles logged on both highway and bumpy terrain. I opted for this rack because I didn't...
I see the trends as a good thing. Brings a ton of new people into a hobby that may never have tried it otherwise, and some of them may even stick with it and find a lifelong pursuit.
More broadly, these trends bring a new flush of cash into a relatively niche industry which provides more R&D...
Real men follow burn-ban rules!
Used to have a scottle, sold it. Big, heavy, pain in the ass to clean at camp.
Now I use a Jetboil zip for me, or if kid is with me I use that for coffee and cook on a Jetboil halfgen which has been excellent.
If you use trekking poles, check out the Durston Xmid tents. That brand has blown up lately, is reasonably priced, and the guy that runs it seems like a good dude and is very active in the backpacking community taking feedback to inform product changes.
The first pitch is a little awkward but...
Hey all,
I almost posted this in camping and overlanding, but since this is specific to the two-door I figured I'd try here first.. Can move if needbe.
I wanted to put it out into the universe that a 10x10 kodiak canvas flex-bow tent fits perfectly in the cargo area of a 2-door JL with the...
Picked up a jetboil halfgen to go with my jetboil zip. Haven't had a chance to use it yet, but will take it on a camping trip later this month.
The zip has been amazing for me, love the all-in-one utility in such a small package. Unfortunately my little one isn't big on freeze-dried meals so...
I don't regret my yella at all. At minimum, it makes it really easy to find in a parking lot, and it makes me smile daily.
Brighten up the world a bit! So many things are all going different shades of gray and brown, it's depressing.
Nah, Jeeps can go through water right???
Unrelated, but my cheap quality Jeep died on me at the lake. Wouldnāt start at all after we got it out of the water. Unacceptable! They donāt make āem like they used to!
