Painted top & fenders were mandatory for me as was all the "tech" & "luxury" so that meant Sahara or top tier Rubicon. I was honest with myself that I didn't "need" the Rubicon stuff (like most). I just wish it had 4.11s, seems like it would be a better fit with the 8 speed. I kind of wanted the auto 4WD transfer case but turns out they deleted that from the Sahara & added it to the top tier Rubicons by the time I purchased; go figure.

Mine came with the all terrain tires (General Grabbers) included over the all seasons.

In the good old days we could order the Sahara with the 4:10, I got it with the TJ and 2007 JK

I think after the JK got the 3.6, the Sahara couldn't be ordered with the 4:10.

Go drive a manual on a BMW, Honda or Volvo (if you can find them). I have owned all of those and by comparison you'll immediately see the difference. The Jeep manual is second rate--it's treated like an afterthought. The shifting is imprecise and throws are too long. You also will only get a six speed with a Jeep and you'll have to down shift twice to get any real speed when you need it. That will jerk your sleeping wife awake which was I problem I had.
Sorry, I completely disagree. I've owned over 15 cars with manual trannys, and the Japanese-built 6-speed is a perfectly good M/T. Yes, the throws are longer than a Miata, but the shifting is "imprecise"?? Explain what you mean. As I shift, there is nothing imprecise. And if you jerk your wife awake on a down-shift, that's on you, not the transmission.

In the good old days we could get a Sahara in a 2-door. :crying:

My only negative impressions of the Sahara are:
a) price tag for fineries/fanciness
b) the light-trim around front bumper
c) 18" wheels
All of which are un-doable, but I wouldn't want to pay for something I know I'll undo.

A Sport S is, in a sense, a blank canvas you can turn into virtually anything you want without having paid extra up front - as your Jeep journey advances. You may think now you'll never want or do something with your Wrangler, but believe me, you don't know how much fun lay ahead.

BTW, this coming from another manual transmission devotee.

Also not a fan of 18" wheels. Even if it's going to be mostly a DD, anything larger than 17" just doesn't look right to me. Though wheels/tires are always the first things I change out on a 4X4.

Only wheels and tires I would consider keeping is if I bought a Rubi, or something with at least 33" AT.

Didn't realize you couldn't order a Sahara 2 door, but makes sense.

Still holding onto my 04 Sahara. Power windows and locks weren't an option then.

Beautiful. This was the original color of my 2006 Sport, but it had tan plastic fenders.
