CB Radio Locations and Installs -- Post your Pictures

I finally settled on a permanent mic clip location for my Cobra. It's accessible, yet out of the way. It doesn't interfere with driving and it's high enough that my leg doesn't hit it. I drilled two small holes for the bolts and attached nuts on the opposite end. This required me to take the HVAC controls and that lower bank of buttons and windows switches off so I could get in there to attach the nuts. It's nice and a secure, doesn't move around on pavement, and doesn't go anywhere on the trail.

I saw a buddy who is a police officer yesterday, and we were talking Jeeps. He showed me this. He hangs a very heavy police radio mic from it and it holds it with no issues. It is also very thin. I may switch my mic holder to one of these.

Quick question:
I see a lot of hand held all in one units. Is anyone running the Larger radios? I have a Cobra 25 LTD classic and I'm looking to mount it overhead, likely over the dash, so the radio can be heard while tooling down the highway at 70mph w/ the top down and doors off. The mic mounts to the radio unit and the radio has a bracket, but I'm curious how people are mounting some of the larger, more traditional radios. Any pics or resources would be helpful.

It's actually a 42", the truck just makes it looks small.... In all reality it's a Ipad mini to run gaia gps, it's supported by a 67 designs mount and a ram ipad holder.

I finished up the CB install tonight. I used the CoolTech kit, and added a spring and quick disconnect. No way I can get into my garage with a 4' antenna.

It took me longer than I thought, the hardest part being routing the coax cable to the front of the Jeep. Lots of trim to take off and put back on, but I just took my time and zip tied it to the existing wiring.

Oh yah works perfect! It’s connected to a full 4’ antenna, but only gets power from the cigarette lighter rather than hardwired. This way I can take it out when not wheeling to unclutter the interior.

So, I did some research and test fitting with my old CB bar from my TJ. It will fit across the span of the roll bar but i can't just straight bolt it to the door surround holes because the bar interferes with the freedom top latches. I've been slowly working on a solution. I have all of my parts cut and drilled and ready to bolt up, just haven't had the time to paint and install. IF anyone is interested in the install I can probably snap some pics and do a quick write up when I do get a chance.
