You of all people should know how much it costs to run power to a plot of land, no? How much to run domestic 120V split-phase service 1000 feet?
Electrical service is pre-existing there. And residential electrical work is not my forte' ;)

So, you wouldn't have to do this as evidenced by your previous post, but I was right ;):giggle:

Chris said it was at the end of my strippers, that's the 18-20 zone. All the way at the other end is the 22 slot. I know I didn't use that one.

heh, well I'm pretty sure I overestimated the gauge of wire, but most circuits I've estimated that extend out beyond 1000 feet are a twin #2 RHW-USE plus #4 RHW-USE ground. I'm not sure what Duke Energy would actually use, but that's a good chunk of that cash right there.

Oh, I gotcha. I didn't know what that sentence meant in Chris' post.

I'm still saying 16 or 14.

It could have been one notch in, which would make it 16AWG

What gauge was the 40amp wire you used? Just curious if it matches at all. I swear the wires are much smaller than the amp rating. No proof, just gut feel. You'd have to put an actual wire gauge on one to sort it out.

It's possible that you used the 18-20 slot on a 16-14 gauge wire and just took out a bunch of conductor strands.

The 40amp wires are 10awg according to my stripper. The article I posted would agree.

I always use a bigger slot and see if the sleeve comes off or not. If it doesn't, then I go the next size smaller. That's about all I can tell ya for this.
