It has been awhile since our last post. There are so many things in the coming weeks and months. But, Football season has put a bit of a damper on mods.

With that being said, today we added heated wiper blades. These are manufactured by a company called Everblades. With winter upon us, we needed to do something to help with the ice and snow that we get here in Minnesota.

The install was very easy and took about an hour. We removed the wiper arms from the Jeep. We then used a pry tool and removed the black plastic wiper tray. That came off very easy.

We ran the wires through opening into the engine compartment and determined the correct length that we would need to facilitate the new blades. We used zip-ties to secure the wires.

Next we used a 1/2" drill bit and made holes in the wiper tray. After inserting 3/8" black rubber grommets, we fed the wires through the grommets and replaced the wiper tray.

Next we grounded both of the ground wires and connected the "positive" lead to the orange "AUX" wire. This wire is controlled by AUX switch #3.

We programmed the switch to "Ignition" and turned them on for the first time! Everything worked wonderfully! Once we get some new snow and ice, we will post more photos!

Everblades has been a great company to work with. They shipped the blades fast. We did have to call, as they come pre-wired to a switch, which we chose not to use. Josh at Everblades was amazing and a world of help when I called and talked with him.

I've never seen heated wiper blades before but they definitely seem useful. Well, not for me in Florida, but I get it.

Any reason you drilled a hole and inserted a rubber grommet to run the wires through instead of just popping out one of the honeycomb shaped vents right below it?

I really like the lock of the stinger and lights. Looks like there is a whole thread just on the stinger - maybe this stinger could keep me from buying a whole bumper.

What LED lights are those? Google points me to LP9 (which I know they are not)
Thank you, Zoe. Got the lights from Amazon.

If you wouldn't mid could you please post what you bought from Everblades, the exact part number.
Also you say it came with a pre-wired switch and you called them, can you tell me what they said and what you needed to do to wire them to AUX 3.
And last question, you say you programmed it for "Ignition", how did you do that, and does that mean as soon as the Jeep starts they start heating up, you can't turn them off? or can you press aux 3 and have them turn off

Thank you very much, I plan on ordering these just want to make sure its something I can do

Well, @Rhinebeck01 , your self proclaimed, Tazer JL fanboy, uninstalled his Tazer JL Mini today. Oh my.... 8-)

Yup, I needed a change... Indeed, the Tazer JL, has always pleased me and I talk it up lots.... but this ole guy needed a change, something new, so....

I might add that I have been really interested / curious about this slightly similar offering I am going to try..... and ... I am finally, getting my chance to try it out.

Anyway, on Thursday, I'm headed off to Florida for a few weeks. I'm in NY now.. Will be driving the JL to Florida, non-stop..

I will install the forum sponsor's product offering, just before I leave. Will be posting what I think of it...
@tmakaro
@Everyone
@SmartStopStart.com

I know you questioned what offering it was.....also, I have received 3 private messages, since last night when I posted, asking me if it was a SmartStopStart unit.

There are apparently guys/gals lurking on the forum, that have a real interest in the SmartStopStart unit.

Well, that it is. I should the unit here by tomorrow, and will install tomorrow, before my road trip to Florida.

I can't tell you how many guy's / and a gal ...over the last few months pm'd me or mentioned in a forum post, whether I had used a SmartStopStart and what I thought of it, etc..

I always replied, the unit was a "One Trick Pony", so to speak, so I had not installed one as I wanted to do more then just to disable the JL's Stop Start.

I often have thought to myself.... geeez, if all I wanted to do was disable ESS, I would undoubtedly be pursuing a SmartStopStart unit.

Anyway, the pm's kept coming and asking me... guess cause I am always talking JL programmer and a lot of JL owner's are not needing a programmer but suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure would like to disable ESS on their JL......

Sure, it is an easy button push to disable ESS but...

....and they wanted to know my honest feelings in regard to the SmartStopStart.. Couldn't tell them though, as I had no experience with that forum sponsor's offering.

With that said, I have decided to install a SmartStopStart and give it a test drive so to speak. I will be using one for at least the next 4 weeks, and then...

So, while I won't be posting much the next few weeks cause I'm on the road, I will make time to post about the SmartStopStart.

I hope all is very positive in regard to the SmartStopStart, as I know there are quite a few here that are wanting a way to disable ESS, but want to know the good bad and he ugly so to speak before they take the plunge. Well, I will be spewing such info soon....

I’m ok with you taking all the risks haha @Rhinebeck01
Actually, I'm looking forward to the install and then actually using the SmartStopStart.

I think it would be a terrific Xmas present for a JL owner, that does not need a programmer but....

Reality is, it is a proven offering, and I'm just taking it out for a spin so to speak. I do not anticipate being let down in anyway by the product.

My guess is that a few here will be/are curious about what my take will be on the SmartStopStart, once I use it.

I'm also sure a few could give a fruck. 8-)

I tend to be hypercritical old fruck, and will quickly call a spade a spade. I have no skin in the game, so to speak so you know what I spew about it will be..... 8-)

seniority has no place here because others don’t give a crap about it.
I entirely agree. I said it initially, that we're all equals, in my not liking anyone being the brunt of snide remarks; something you seemed to miss when you initially and wrongly equated my remarks as "respect not being given by rookies." I then pointed those remarks of mine out to you, and you're back at it again. Please stop.

My only point in bringing up number of posts or "longevity" here was--as most of my posts try to help others--was that if I, with some good will here, can be decent, so can people who are new.

I'm glad to refer you to where a newbie in another post misspelled a word in a question, and people too interested in making jokes didn't answer him. I did, trying to make him/her feel welcome and suggested that jokes (which I do all the time) come after answer and debate.

Longevity, seniority?? If someone even hypothetically has those qualities and have been a douche during their tenure someplace then it's a detriment to their time, not a feather in their cap.

Even if seniority had any standing here, the dang JL is pushing a year old: we're all newbies. None of us come here with knowledge of the rig's long term track record as that's a story only time can publish.

Easiest thing is for people to just not be dicks and if they don’t like something, ignore it. That’s what I do when I see 20s+ wheels or gaudy mods that aren’t my taste.
Agreed..I do it all the time; most of us do. You just don't see it--by definition.;)

Don’t get butt hurt about it and think you can change people.

Sir: if longevity is a relative term, one doesn't survive here being overly sensitive: and I have longevity. It entitles me to nothing, except maybe an obligation to help others just as I was when new. And change people..? Even if it was doable, it's not time well spent.

.....but motivate people to behave better...that works.

Instead they will jack with you and when you take the bait, hammer you. It’s very common in blue collar America which I’m proud to be apart of
I think you conflate workplace dynamics with moderated bboards, and FWIW, I've worn both collars. I do agree that workplace fights be entered into with much caution. But dozens of people who acted here the way you describe seem to no longer publish.

@JTopsUSA sunshade in the Titanium... fantastic accessory. Easy install, sturdy material without any cheap clip-ons, and the tie-down straps fit around my GPCA grab handles. I like that it darkens the interior a bit and I don't have to see the factory Styrofoam-looking top anymore. Now all I need is springtime.

I have the same one and love it except it seems like the sag in the front when the top is on gets worse by the day

You know you could be absolutely wrong in the way you took his reply! It possible that he was so amazed at your hack that he wrote what he did!

Any way you put it I think you really came down pretty hard on a one sentence reply! You wrote a very long winded reply with a lot of useful info though, thanks for that!

I actually thought your hack was pretty ingenious and money saving!

Just need to learn to lighten up and take it easy and not get offended at what others might post!
Wait......did you just leave a long winded reply to say that he shouldn't have left a long winded reply lol.

Just having fun please don't respond with hostility

Number of posts, nor likes, means anything.

You mean “it doesn't matter,” correct? If so, I agree and have said so, except to say that if I can be patient (as I should be, even when answering the same questions--as I am not forced to) then new people can be decent too, agreed?

I'm under 200 posts, but I know a HELL of a lot more about these Jeeps than many members with thousands of post.
Which, by the way, along with seniority or longevity, wealth, looks, and a host of other attributes equates to little here, myself included, right?

Because posting "Welcome to the forum," commenting that you like everyone's pics, or asking any and all questions that pop into your head means nothing (not saying you do that, but we all know many who do). Don't even get me started on some of the threads unrelated to Jeeps where people seem to talk forever like the forum is their only source of friends
Agreed. I'm here to ask questions, read about other people's findings, and try to help others in places I've skinned my knees, or was prevented from doing so by others I'm paying back. Friends and narcissist supply isn't my goal, not the goal of most, and when friendships serendipitously but not intentionally form: that's great.

My only point regarding the attributes you cite as meaningless, and to which I concur, is if I can be decent with mileage here, so can new (and old) posters.

Don't even get me started on some of the threads unrelated to Jeeps where people seem to talk forever like the forum is their only source of friends
I agree...but nobody forces us to be here, read, or comment. And then there's all the good stuff from being here. So we take the good with the bad.

I generally stay silent, chime in when necessary, and come here mostly to soak up all of the info many appear to miss out on.
And I generally chime in when I feel I can add value not already stated, give or get a laugh, and try to learn: similar, but not identical to you.

This weekend I put on @ROAM Rock Rails & a custom Gear Shade (Outside: gray, white, black digital camo; Inside: black & red digital camo). So yeah, I took my top off for the first time. :)

Did you run the wiring for the led lights on the Roam steps? If so, how big of a deal was it?
