I mean, unless you're freakishly good with a slingshot! (and can bob and weave with the best of them.)
In deed. Since we broke out the old pics, I was nostalgic for the home made sling shot. Ah, the good old days.

I'm 55 and have done a GREAT job of avoiding gunfights my whole life. I'm not a fan of guns, but I am an owner. In fact used to carry a 1911 when I was in Coast Guard boarding team. (12 Gauge Riot, 45, M16, 50 Cal mounted on 82 Ft patrol boat) The were so old we'd typically break them at the range just firing them, the 1911's.

I have a different view on them than most Texans. It's a tool to me like a hammer. If I need to drive a nail ... yada yada yada ...

Mine are useless currently because I have kids, so they are locked in a safe and the ammo locked in a fire proof safe elsewhere.

I have to rely on my 3 attack Chihuahua's should we need protection. And one of them we rescued from a shelter has taken down grown men. She was abused and is very protective but sweet with the family and children.

When I lived in the country, the Hamer aspect came to fruition when killing rattle snakes. Sure I could have used a hoe, but I didn't want to get that close ...

I know it's better not to down shift in the turn so you don't upset the balance, but I've not been that close to the bleeding edge that I've had to worry about that. That said, I don't generally brake in the turn either, so don't need to "heel/toe" my blips.

When I do, however, it's more like center of foot on brake with tip of shoe blipping the throttle on the Jeep. On the Subaru I can span the two peddles with the forefoot so I brake with the big toe side and blip with the little toe side. :dunno:

On dirt I brake with the left foot and throttle control with the right. ;)

I'm sure a bit of track training would have come in handy, but instructors cost money and I was just a poor boy in a poor family.
AH, well I was gathering information for a fight in the General Forums

I will agree they are tools. Not toys. They need to be treated with respect. :fist bump:
