Short bursts of 30+ are possible... lol

You and Mike (And Trina) must be pretty heavy footed, lol.

I'm sure I've hit high mpg levels before but I turned that stuff off cuz I was spending too much energy on it instead of just driving. If I really wanted good fuel economy, I should have gotten a "car". :)

I got 22 mpg coming out of the mountains one time. There is photographic evidence somewhere.

I blame the winter fuel for my current 16-17mpg average. (Though I might still be driving it like I stole it on occasion.)

True, But I also believe you should try to drive efficiently with what you have. I don't get all worked up because I don't get Prius mileage... but if I was averaging 13 I'd be pretty stressed. Going up the hill on I-74 to get on I-40 I'll be in 6th gear with an instant readout of 15 MPG. I don't panic over that because I understand It needs to work harder to go uphill. Once the terrain levels out and she gets into 8th gear I'll generally see instant readouts in the high 20s though.

I just drive sensibly and use Fuelly to tell me how she's doing. If the tank to tank average were to take a sudden nose dive, then I'd be having chats with the dealer or looking for fuel stains on the garage floor.

I also figure that in the winter it's a crapshoot anyway. Remote starts for wamup and stuff like that are gonna pull the mpg down. Just more negative factors this time of year.

Ah, I've mentioned before its worth a glance, but I don't sit and watch it like a TV show though. If I see my average has gone down I'll know to make minor adjustments in my driving style (If that is the cause) Although lately with the cold weather and the usage of 4 wheel drive just to get out of the neighborhood has made that go down. Understandable decreases given the purpose of why I got the Jeep to start with.

True, I've also had to do a few warmups while scraping ice from the windows.

So my plan for each vehicle I drive is this: Attempt to exceed the fuel economy estimates by reasonable calm driving. I do not resort to extreme hypermileing like some people do, and I also understand that yes, I do have a Jeep, its not going to give me high numbers.

My Ram 1500 was averaging around 15-16 in my daily drive here. The Jeep does 20-22. I am very happy with that increase, but it doesn't come close to the 38-42 that the Accord can do, or the 50+ the Yamaha does.
