Good morning.

Just to chyme in on the "Instant Pot vs. Crockpot" topic. I have both and I don't think the Instant Pot is a complete replacement for a slow cooker. For instance, I'd still do any kind of soup/stew/sauce in the slow cooker especially if it has any kind of noodles or soft vegetables in it. The Instant Pot is great for cooking things quickly but it will turn vegetables and noodles to mush very quickly. Recipes often call for you to cook the meat for a certain amount of time, then depressurize and add vegetables and then bring it back up to pressure/temperature. It's kind of a hassle. I also think the slow cooker is still better for meats that take a long time to break down such as pork. I still make carnitas in the slow cooker.
Hmm.

Okay, it must be important to check whether all instant pots have the same settings.

Mine has a slow cooker function, with low, medium and high settings. I have far better temp control in it as a slow cooker than I’ve ever had in my crock pots.

The other thing the Instant Pot does very well is beans. Where a slow cooker would require soaking overnight and then slow cooking all day, the Instant Pot will give you nice soft beans (from dry) in about half an hour.
AGREED

Homemade baked beans, without thinking about it the day before.

Ah, I was going to say, I've pretty much only used mine for saute/high pressure cooking, so I haven't explored some of the other settings. I have an old-school THICK crockpot that maintains temperature very well. I still use it for all my slow cooking.

Thank you for your input.

Ahhh.

I think new crock pots have food safety rules that require them to cook the hell out of all things. Mine was awful - everything came out with the same over cooked texture, even when it was set on low. Its crock cracked, and I replaced it with the instant pot.
