Right, but by definition, DC doesn't have cycles.I'm no electrician, but I'm pretty sure this thing runs on direct current rather than alternating....

continue reading...Right, but by definition, DC doesn't have cycles.
You see my confusion now, yes?
I have an EE friend, I'll ask him what he thinks...
My only thought would be that it didn't mind if it got AC at 60Hz OR DC. Unfortunately, testing that and being wrong would be disastrous. So asked my boss... he's confused too.... 60 Cycles is 60Hz AC, but we don't know why it also says DC.

Ha! Don't know if this means I'm crazy or not!Since it has a /DC, could it mean OR DC? 115V AC or DC.

We it hasn't exploded... yet...My only thought would be that it didn't mind if it got AC at 60Hz OR DC. Unfortunately, testing that and being wrong would be disastrous.![]()
What type of noise?Maybe. it makes noise when I plug it in but I haven't been able to get it to do anything yet.
it sounds like an electric motor for the spools/rotators/cogs (whatever they're called in this thing)What type of noise?
OH! It might have a rotary converter thingie inside! (depends on heft, those aren't "delicate" components) This way, it could self-rectify the incoming AC to DC.If it has a motor inside, it might be stuck. Flat spots on the stator I think it's called. Not sure if it's worth your time to open it up and try spinning the innards.
Jeeping in snow is loads of fun though!lol! generally easy to avoid water moccasins by not swimming in wooded areas.
We have fire ants here too... I have an Epipen for those...
By the way we've got 8-10 inches of snow forecast for this weekend... not sure how we'll survive this...
