I do use the number pad on occasion. But the skimpiest engineering calculator I've used (the one required for the licensing exam) is a TI-30Xa.

There are actually three calculator factions:

-TI users
-HP users
-Casio users

The fancy ones have their own quirks...I've literally gotten into intense debates over this.

My parents have an old Sharp that's solar powered; my Mom uses it to balance her checkbook.

I think they've fallen by the wayside though.

One of my (younger) cow-orkers was telling me today how his mom's iPad was just stolen and how she kept all her passwords (including the PW for the iPad) written on a piece of paper in the iPad case. He started the story "My mom is so dumb..."
