I’m stuck on the 3.6 for its manual transmission
I just cant deal with that many levers and buttons to push while I am climbing a difficult obstacle on a trail. And my left knee sucks >.>

An all new engine isn't like redesigning a chassis. I'm sure it is a great power plant, but the 3.6 is tested and true, and delivers its power linearly which is a great boon when your trying to get over an obstacle. I like the idea of the 2.0T for Wranglers that would see a great deal of their use on road perhaps.
"Linearly" is subject to debate in my opinion.

From my experience, YMMV ;)
700-1799 RPM = slow, steady gains :)
1800-4500 RPM = WHOA NELLY! :surprised::muscle::rock::turkey:

4500+...

(OK, OK, OK. Cresting 4500 RPM usually puts me somewhere in the upper 70s or ~80 mph, which becomes too expensive to drive at)

When casually accelerating, I don't even have to look at the tach to know when I cross that magic 1800 RPM line.

Oh Hi everybody ...My manners deceived me by all this " 3.banter " so I jumped in

anyoldwho ....How Y'all are ?? ....Justin Wilson - my fav !

whats new - whats old
did CK get her power cord ?
did RA realize she can't eat a horseshoe ?
did Trina's windmill dance in the parking lot hit YouTube yet ?
Yep, learned my lesson. Horseshoe may have been close, but since that only counts in that and hand grenades, I should have been thinking about what I last ate.

I’m up to speed now. But slowing rapidly.... LONG WEEK. And Gamora and I have a good 4 hrs of commuting in front of us tomorrow. Back into the city we go... Think of me as I deal with Toronto’s rush hour(s)

So while I wade through the back log of pages, I thought I would share:

Eve went and got herself a growth spurt

Those side steps are especially handy now, and I’m 6’2”

End result: Eve is now 2” taller than a Rubicon. Previously 1.5” shorter. My new (non engineer) assessment being that thereason it’s a 2” Mopar lift kit is that it adds 2” to Rubicons. Which means 3.5” to sport models.
She’s a sexy girl!!!

I get it, but bashing the Pentastar...Copaired to the outgoing 3.5 V6, theres just...Its not a fair comparison, the Pentastar is fantastic, the 3.5 is literally only good as boat anchor..
I'll sing the Pentastar's praises all day, and I came from the Holy AMC Straight Six; the 4.0L.

Of course, there is no real comparison between the two engines. My old 4.0 had about 90 fewer horsepower and 30 fewer ft-lbs of torque. It did make all that torque at 3000 RPM though. But! Consider the following:

If I recall correctly, the Pentastar is touted to make 90% of its torque at 1800 RPM and up. 90% of 260 = 234 ft-lbs. So, not only is the Pentastar more powerful, efficient, and modern, it even beats the long-block torque of the fabled Wrangler power plant across the board.

My point is, Jeep has come a long way from the early 2000s. Would love to test drive all three modern options (with the same transmission) someday :giggle::involve:

I put the lockers on, slapped it in 4Lo and crawled up a loose 25 degree incline with a light touch of the throttle. People at the top of the hill waiting for me to pass were jaw dropped. I LOVE the JL...

I’m familiar with left knee suckage.

The JL has a beautiful clutch. I’ve not had any issues with it and my knee. Gamora is primarily a daily driver. The closest OHV park to me is about 6 hrs away, and I haven’t been able to track down any quad trails that allow larger vehicles. We tackle no-winter maintenance roads and tractor paths, and the manual adds some fun to those.
