what similar product can I use to touch up the ecoat or re-do the whole thing on a Rubicon front steel bumper? Something that wouldn't involve a air compressor would be nice as I don't have access to one.

A lot of guys use this.. Coat/spray something else first to assure you like the color/appearance. This stuff is not expensive, easily found at Walmart, etc., very easy to apply and to touch-up. Apply multiple light coats. Let each coat dry for a few minutes before application of the next coat. Also great for Rubi rails, Sliders, etc..

Awesome. Thanks! I'll be sure to test it out first before I take the bumper apart.

Would you recommend the same stuff to deal with scratches on a Rubicon steel bumper? Just mask the areas and apply several light coats?

@Tpham was saying he was going to "re do" the whole thing so color match was not something that was considered when I posted.

With that said, I do not think it will color match. It might ? or it could be close, but I cannot attest to this. IF it is close or matches, the stuff is very easy to work with / touch-up with.

Try on another piece of metal and then once dry, compare to your stock bumper. Remember, multiple light coats, allowing to dry for a few minutes in between coats.

Not yet. I’ve ordered two different items and the second is due in this afternoon. I’m going to test them first to see how they’ll match. It’ll be this weekend before I can do that but will post my opinions on each.

That looks like mine. I think RustOleum semi-gloss or even matte black might be the ticket

you gotta sand down the low spots, hard edge gouges before you apply the paint, or you will just see those marks clear as day under the new paint. feather edge to smooth it out.

Ok, so I went ahead and bought the Rustoleum Truck spray and if I were you guys, I would go ahead and purchase that stuff and apply it to your bumpers.

I added a couple light coats because I was in a hurry, still got to wet sand it to even out the texture, but it looks pretty darn close. I didn’t even really mask off the area (I was going to buy new parts anyways).

Attached some pics with it still kind of wet. I’m a novice at spray painting so if I can do this, y’all can too.
