Ok, lemme throw this out to everyone in here. Had a couple friends over yesterday & they were telling me Vida needs a new radio since she doesn’t connect to apps like Pandora & Google maps without being hard wired. Bluetooth connects fine for using the phone for calls & music on the phone itself, but to use CarPlay & apps, I have to be plugged in through the USB. I thought for sure I’d read other places that’s how it’s spoda be. Yes? No? Maybe so?

I mean I'm pretty sure there's an aftermarket system that will do carplay/auto through bluetooth... but I wouldn't say you NEED a new system. I'd question the water resistance of anything in the aftermarket as well. Also Pandora will play through bluetooth on mine, through the Media screen bluetooth connection.

They meant the dealer needs to swap out my radio for a new manufacturer one. Not saying I agree or think they’re right! Lol. These girls always get themselves all worked up about shit.
Maybe mine does it through Bluetooth, too & I just haven’t explored it enough. I didn’t think it did. It’s not like I drive a lot. Lol. And when I am on longer trips, I’m usually plugged in anyway.

Oh, yeah It'll play audio though bluetooth, but to get your google maps to work you have to plug it in. There's nothing wrong with your current system.

Bluetooth works for some audio, text messaging, and phone calls. AndroidAuto / CarPlay will give you the apps like Pandora, Spotify, Waze, Maps, etc. You have to plug your phone in to use AndroidAuto / CarPlay. Not sure about aftermarket options, but I would think that the bandwidth/throughput of Bluetooth is not up to snuff to handle CarPlay on its own, hence the USB cable.

Agreed. Also, I feel like you should view any aftermarket option with suspicion, since that Uconnect screen is tied into everything, not just radio/nav. This isn't like the early 2000s, where you could swap out the tape deck in your 1995 Civic for a Panasonic DVD player.
