Same. Where I grew up, there was a crazy steep 90+ degree turn up a mountain. My XJ would always downshift halfway up the turn (at 20MPH). Without fail, whenever it rained, the torque gain from the downshift would break the rear end loose. 4WD HI for the turn until I got up over the hill. Then 2 HI again.

Use it if you need it IMO.

Oh yeah, especially in a slippery situation you can use the 4WD. Its all situation dependent, A few weeks after I got the Jeep we got a sudden snowstorm but when I went to drive home, the road conditions really didn't need 4WD and I got home just fine on 2HI. I think I could have done fine with 4HI but I figured the LSD will react faster than I can If I needed extra traction.
