They're delicious. It's an interesting plant. The blossoms only open at night, and for one night only. During that time they must be pollinated, either by hand, or naturally by a bat or moth. Then and only then do they produce fruit. Think kiwi (flavor) meets watermelon (texture.)

Usually groundwater is on the surface of the bedrock, no? Or are you talking fractured, weathered rock?

We also have water above the bedrock. These are called lakes.

True. But it takes a few years to recoup... I think our well was just over $10k.
