Just FYI, I would still purchase a tune if it meant improved low end torque and improved cooling fan settings, even if it didn't fix the hesitation. Yes the hesitation is annoying, but the lack of low end torque is WAY more annoying, at least on the 6MT. It probably isn't as noticeable on the 8AT because it has much closer ratios, but with the 6MT, I am constantly having to choose between a gear that should work but doesnt have enough torque and a gear that is revving the engine to 3.5k+ RPMs.

UPDATE - Some of you wont like it..........
Don't get too frustrated! I'm just lurking on this thread, following your progress, and I'm pretty amazed at your energy so far. I mean, you haven't been at this project all that long, and are making progress. Just wanted to drop in and say thanks for your efforts.

I did a little bit of tuning on my 94 Impala SS, and I know the grind gets tough. Tune, do a pull, repeat until you have to get out bigger fans, let her cool, do some more..... 🤣

Sure. I'd have to go out and time stuff to give you an accurate reproducible way to make it happen but the gist of it is:
  1. Moving along normally
  2. Floor it for a second
  3. It downshifts a few gears and the revs go way up (as expected) and you start accelerating
  4. Take foot off throttle quickly and completely
  5. It remains downshifted, it keeps fueling (might even still be accelerating at first), then it slowly backs down over a few seconds and eventually upshifts. What it should do is chop the throttle and there should be immediate engine braking but that's not what it does.
Similar thing if you want to jam the throttle to get the rear to break free in the snow to slide around a little. It doesn't quit immediately when you let off the gas.
I think the cause is something other than the PCM holding the throttle open slightly for emissions, but the effect is not great. I found out the hard way doing this off road that not only does the engine still make power but there also is no vacuum for the brakes. Not sure why the vacuum pump did not kick in (I've only ever had it operate at high elevation) but there was zero braking for a couple of seconds.

I got all worked up yesterday for nothing. 😀😀😀

Thanks to @alphawolff for a suggestion, I ventured into the EGR area of the tune. Even though I don’t have full datalog support yet, I found a few generic EGR related PIDs and added them to my scanner and looked them over. Discovered that the EGR valve would open to 80% at the precise time that the hesitation and stutter was happening, but outside of the stutter was hanging around 30-40 percent.

Some tweaks on all the EGR related tables and the hiccup is completely gone for real this time.

I don’t want to completely disable EGR for obvious reasons. Plus, MPG could possibly take a hit. But now I’m going to dedicate the next few days to smoothing out the EGR tables and ramping them in appropriately with the appropriate spark timing to keep it all smooth.

2018 through 2026 3.6 Tuning available!!!

Thanks for sticking with me guys, didn't take too long!! After 40 plus revisions, 3 tanks of fuel, 800 miles of driving, and lots of cussing, I am ready to remote tune for everyone.

For those who have already got their PCM unlocked and MPVI device and are ready to go, here is what I am offering right now.

Just FYI, by purchasing an MPVI, you will have access to other things like check engine light diagnosis, transmission adaptive reset, rear diff gearing changes, tire size changes, power steering disable, and more as HP Tuners adds more features. Those are the ones currently available in addition to the tuning.

-Trans Only Tune - $200

-Cleaner crisper shifting, reduced shift times, less shift slop
-Less clutch slip = longer lasting trans and better temp management
-Better shift schedule, much easier downshifts, no more engine bogging
-Can customize shift schedules and shift firmness to your liking.
-Datalogging not required unless needed to fix an issue
-PCM unlock technically not needed, but recommended as there could be
datalog issues.

- Stutter Fix Tune - $200

- Fixes the annoying low load low RPM stutter felt between 1500-2000 RPM.
- This stutter was caused by the way VVL and VVT are activated and used from the factory.
- Better throttle response from revised cam settings.
- No datalogging needed unless there is an issue.
-Any octane fuel can be run.
- No need to datalog
- Everything else is bone stock

-Complete Daily Driver Tune, $400 for Automatics, $300 for Manuals

- Includes the stutter fix
- Will tune for whatever octane you want to run. 87 octane will have stock spark timing minus a few minor changes due to EGR tuning. Higher octanes will have more spark and cam advance for more midrange and top end perforamce. Initial datalogging shows 20 HP gain on 91-93 octane and a shift in torque curve more towards the low RPM range. Dyno graphs to come in the next few months.
- FREE 87 tune included if your primary tune is for higher octane that way you have something to fall back on if needed.
- Complete engine and transmission tune with datalogging before and after to
make sure your Jeep is running good.
- Cam timing and VVT operation revised.
- Dramatically enhanced throttle response, no more spongy throttle
- Torque management changes to put power to the ground better
- Deeper customization upon request for throttle response, fan settings, stop
start permanent disable, etc.

The full tune is a dramatic night and day difference in your ride. It is what I recommend the most.

If you don't have anything purchased yet, here is what you need to get FROM HP TUNERS, NOT ME, as explained in prior posts:

-MPVI4 ($400)
-Dodge 2018+ Smart Access Cable ($80)
-PCM Unlock Service ($250, not needed if you want transmission only tune)
-HP Tuners Credits
GPEC2A (18-22) - 2 Credits needed for PCM, 4 additional needed for TCM
GPEC5 - 4 credits needed for PCM, 4 additional needed for TCM

-If you are a new customer and buy a new MPVI4 plus 6 credits at the
time of purchase, your unlock service will be FREE!!!! Not sure if website
automatically applies this discount, so you may have to call or email
HP Tuners to confirm.

Remember, I only provide the tune file and I do it all remotely through email, it is on you to buy the MPVI4, Access Cable, and PCM unlocking.

I will likely have same day turn around once you supply me with your read. I am abnormally responsive to emails and DMs because I HATE unread notifications on my phone. I'm a bit OCD about that. LOL

Payment will be through Venmo or Paypal.

Be warned, I WILL make you sign a liability release form before supplying your tune. My files are tested and safe and used in my daily driver. I have tuned hundreds of vehicles and never had a single issue. But at the end of the day, I am just a nerdy car guy who knows a lot about tuning who does this on the side, so it's to protect me. If you don't like that, sorry bout cha! If you are worried about having a "random" guy calibrate your vehicle, look me up on HP Tuners forum and look at all the nerdy crap I've developed with some of the pros over the years. Or DM me and quiz me. I'm ready :)

Additionally, I will be locking the files I send to you. You will not be able to edit them or see the changes. This is to protect my work. Tune theft is a thing in the HP Tuners world unfortunately. However, if you want to know the tables I tune on, I am more than happy to send you screenshots of the comparison log. I'm not afraid to show what I change like some guys.

The process with me after you have everything purchased and ready is as follows:

-DM me on here for my email address.
-Tell me what tune file you want and give me your $$$$$.
-Do a "Read" on your PCM and TCM, Save your file, back it up, and email it to me.
-Email me your MPVI serial number and VIN number
-Sign a waiver
-Get the tune back from me.
-Flash the tune to your Jeep.
-Enjoy your refreshed ride.

THANKS FOR TRUSTING ME AND STICKING WITH ME THROUGH THE PAST FEW WEEKS. I'm stoked at how much better my 2025 is driving and can't wait to hear some feedback and review. If your not happy about something, email me first because most tuning related things can be datalogged and revised.

To any admin people watching, let me know if I need to remove pricing information.

Thanks!

-Brad

I'd suggest rolling the radiator fan change into the PCM tunes.

It’ll be available for anyone who needs it. With varying climate and driving needs my base files will have stock fan settings and can be tweaked any time with a quick revision.

Probably not. I would want to have one in person to develop on it before offering it.

According to HPT website they don’t have V6 eTorque models even being shown as able to be tuned at this time.

Fun ones!
If you have manual do you need the TCM piece? Assuming I go to the ole interwebz to figure out how to remove my ECU? This stuff is rocket science to me!

Just wanted to say thanks for all of your hard work. I fully intend to purchase a tune from you. However, I will have to wait until late March when I will actually have garage space to park it since I will have to send the PCM out to be unlocked.

Nope, no need for TCM credits for manuals.

I have a video on my Youtube channel talking about PCM removal, super easy

Nice to see this is coming together, I will be hitting you up for a performance tune this spring.

You might want to cross post over on the Gladiator forums as well.

2018 through 2026 3.6 Tuning available!!!

Thanks for sticking with me guys, didn't take too long!! After 40 plus revisions, 3 tanks of fuel, 800 miles of driving, and lots of cussing, I am pushing out the first batch of tunes. 91 and 93 octane "performance" tunes are yet to come and still in development, but what I have ready to go will suit 95 percent of Wrangler owners.

For those who have already got their PCM unlocked and MPVI device and are ready to go, here is what I am offering right now.

-8 Speed Trans Only Tune - $200

-Cleaner crisper shifting, reduced shift times, less shift slop
-Less clutch slip = longer lasting trans and better temp management
-Better shift schedule, much easier downshifts, no more engine bogging
-Can customize shift schedules and shift firmness to your liking.
-Datalogging not required unless needed to fix an issue
-PCM unlock technically not needed, but recommended as there could be
datalog issues.

- Stutter Fix Only Tune - $200

- Fixes the annoying low load low RPM stutter felt between 1500-2000 RPM.
- This stutter was caused by a conflict between intake VVT timing and the
the EGR system. EGR remaining active in this file.
- Cam timing upgraded for better midrange response and feel
- No datalogging needed unless there is an issue.
-Any octane fuel
- No need to datalog
- Everything else is bone stock

-87 Octane Daily Driver Tune, $400 for Automatics, $300 for Manuals

- Includes the stutter fix
- Complete engine and transmission tune.
- Retains stock ignition timing, any octane can be used.
- Cam timing upgraded, but less aggressive to allow for any octane.
- Greatly enhanced throttle response, no more spongy throttle
- Torque management changes to put power to the ground better
- Datalogging recommended for first file to make sure your Jeep is happy.
- Deeper customization upon request for throttle response, fan settings, stop
start permanent disable, etc.

I'll be reaching out once I get the tuner & unlock completed. Thank you!

Any possibility of supplying a TCM only tune for the 2.0L as well?
