All right guys here’s the big first update.

After 4 revisions, the stumble/hesitation at low RPM is GONE!!!!!

Just as I figured, it was a VVL timing issue in that particular area. I cut EGR spark timing by 25 percent because the timing advance was crazy aggressive and then completely revamped the intake variable cam tables and the hesitation/stumble/misfire feeling went away!!!

I am waiting for HP tuners to fix data log channels because the OS on my PCM is so new they don’t have them charted out yet. As soon as I get datalog configuration figured out, I’ll be able to show you guys the data and I’ll be on to adding more timing and cam changes for even more power. Lots to be excited about here though.

too bad Stellantis wouldn't pay you for your work and fix the issue for everyone that has it.

They probably wouldn't like the .5 MPG people are going to lose with the cam timing advance and better throttle settings lol

Theres a good amount of cooling fan settings for both AC on and AC off, will customize it to whoever however they want it.

Heres a pic of everything that can be changed.

Shaved about .5 a second off 0-60 with ONLY cam changes and 2 degrees of timing added, nothing else. Not too shabby for still dialing in

For the cooling fan the quick change is just the desired ECT table, as I outlined earlier in this thread. Otherwise if HPT added PWM tables we could probably get it so that the fan did not cycle at all. Also like how the hysteresis incorrectly converts from C to F in HPT?

Chances are the modifications you made will improve MPG. Tuning improvements usually do as they improve volumetric and/or thermal efficiency. 2.0T running -ve timing on the freeway can attest to that; I get worse MPG than the 392.

Fun ones!
Can someone explain this in layman’s terms? Buy software, hook up cable to OBD and computer, click some things I don’t understand on my computer, and voila? Rough math looks to be about $1kish?

I’m the guy who calls IT and IT asks if I’ve restarted my computer.

Pretty much. You'll need to do some logging in advance before flashing the actual tune, which is essentially driving around with your laptop connected to your OBD2 port with a program running and recording the session.

@bmpcamry09 If you don't mind adding to the wish list, could you please check through VCM and see if there's any sort of torque management setup against these engines? This might be a 6 speed manual specific thing; I recall people were getting some power limit messages on the cluster back when there was a clutch recall for these JLs and I'm wondering if that logic lives within the PCM and can be disabled.

There’s all kinds of torque limiters and what not that I disable on nearly every tune I do. I keep some torque management in place though as a safety for the transmission. Usually I leave factory spark TM in place and then max all limiters.

Last update I’ll probably share for a few days guys, making good progress. On revision 9. I actually managed to move the “hiccup” farther into the RPM band on accident on one of the revisions so having to slow down a bit and make smaller changes at a time. Any further refinement will have to wait until the datalog issue is resolved which should hopefully be this week.
