I talked to Livernois earlier this week and they said they are not working on tuning for the GPEC5, they are busy with other stuff. They have no tuning for 2023+ JLs and JTs and it didn't sound like it was of any priority whatsoever to start developing anything.

HPTuners took about two years to crack the GPEC5 at considerable expense and at this point no-one else can unlock the GPEC5.

Good to know. I emailed them a few months ago, and at that time, they told me they working working on unlocking the GPEC-5 but couldn't give an estimated timeline.

I was somewhat hopeful at that time, but now it sounds like it will probably never happen, at least from Livernois.

Since Livernois uses HP Tuners for their stuff, you'd think they would have been working on it.

They use a different platform. That’s why you have to buy their device to use their stuff.

Thought they started out with HP tuner software then switched to their own tuner running HP software for some reason.

The strike against them in my eyes, is they only unlock to their protocol, just like Diablosport does.

For those that noticed the YouTube videos are gone, no worries, I am making a new YouTube page, but I think I’m going to make instructions on this thread directly because making videos is a pain.

Still waiting on HP Tuners to send the PCM back. They say up to 7 business days, so hopefully I’ll have it this coming week.

I have a new Youtube Channel, so please give me a follow to stay tuned to this tuning thread as I get going on these 3.6 hesitation issues, getting going on this now guys, my unlocked PCM arrives tomorrow, so I'll have a breakdown of the hesitation in datalog format so everyone can see the problem by the end of this week.

Here is a quick video on how to set up VCM scanner and a brief overview of what a datalog will look like.

You're overestimating my level of intelligence...
Well I’m a terrible teacher, so we are going to suffer through this together 😂

HP TUNERS BREAKDOWN

2018-2026 JL Wranglers

All of this information can be found on the HP Tuners website, but here is a breakdown for everyone here as we get deeper into this since I’ve had a few DM’s comparing HP Tuners to other dedicated devices like Diablosport, Livernois, Flashpaq, etc….Please note that all tuning options on this platform have naturally higher up front costs due to the encryption of the PCM/TCM, all options are within a few hundred bucks of each other, but HP Tuners is the only one that isn’t locked to your vehicle and can be used across other manufacturers, and it’s the ONLY one that allows you to tune everything yourself. The VCM Editor and VCM Scanner software is FREE.

Device ($400)

-Required to own yourself if you want to tune remotely, if I tune for you locally in person, you don’t need this.
- HP Tuners MPVI4 is the newest model, older models are no longer on website for sale,
-Device is NOT LOCKED TO YOUR VEHICLE, you can use it on any other vehicle at any other time.
-Check engine lights, adaptive resets, gear and tire size changes, and more are accomplished with the device via HP Tuners Suite.
-$400 one time, can be used on almost* any Ford/GM/Dodge/Jeep product.
See https://www.hptuners.com/vehicles/ for full list.

HP Tuners Credits ($100-$400)

-These are the “tokens” required as payment to HP Tuners for their prior development involved in cracking the PCM for tuning, one-time payment per vehicle/VIN, your tuner does not make money on these credits
-Credits are required for both the PCM and TCM but you can do one or the other one at a time, for best results, it is HIGHLY recommended to tune both PCM and TCM together
-$50 per credit
-Compatibility lists can be found at https://www.hptuners.com/vehicles/
-GPEC2A PCM models (2018-2023) require 2 credits ($100) for PCM.
-GPEC5 PCM models (2023-2026) require 4 credits ($200) for PCM.
-8 speed transmission requires an additional 4 credits ($200)

PCM Unlock Service and Access Cable

-Unlock service is $249, but it is FREE if you purchase an MPVI4 and 6 CREDITS AT TIME OF MPVI4 order, see HP Tuners website or call them for details, I did not get to take advantage of this as I traded in my MPVI3 for a MPVI4 and I am far from a new customer.
-This is currently REQUIRED in order to read/write/datalog. This is due to the encryption that the manufacturer has on the PCM.
-This service takes UP TO 7 BUSINESS DAYS once your PCM is received, so plan accordingly on your vehicle being out of service.
-I have done this service a few times now on various vehicles, I receive my PCM back about a week after they received it. Your times may vary.
-Access Cable is required ($80), other companies cables may or may not accomplish the same thing, but I recommend the HP Tuners one, this plugs into a module that’s located above the OBD port, I’ll show how this works in a video soon.

Tuning Process

With some knowledge of how engines and transmissions run, you can learn and do it yourself. Just understand that a few wrong clicks can destroy your engine/trans. I do this semi-professionally as a side gig and have spent a lot of time and money in training and development over the past few years. Professionals who do this every day still learn something new constantly, there is more to it than just clicking buttons, so proceed with caution.

If you want me to do a tune for you, you will be responsible for the up front cost and purchases yourself (PCM unlock, MPVI device, access cable, and credits). I won't advertise or mention pricing myself on this forum because I am not a vendor, but it will be reasonable and include multiple revisions and datalogging for free. DM me for details on that

More posts and Youtube videos to come, development has started today. My first task is fixing the hesitation issue, and if it is a simple tuning issue fix, I will share with everyone how to fix it yourself with HP Tuners. Once that is done, the rest of the tuning development will go very quickly and I can start offering a full complete tuning product to you guys soon.

Lastly, everyone asks "Will this void your warranty" and there is no clean cut answer to that, sorry. Technically, a dealer has to be able to prove that your PCM modifications caused a failure. I was both a dealer tech and a service manager at two different Dodge dealers over the years, and I have NEVER seen this, even on super modified cars. It depends on your dealer I guess I should say. A dealer can't see what specific changes are made within the PCM, all they can see is a flash count of how many times a flash has been done, but no master techs even look for that. On newer models, a P1400 code can appear which means your calibration is not stock, however that code can be DISABLED using HP Tuners and it won't appear if you turn it off.

Just to clarify, a manual transmission does not require a tune, thus does not require additional credits, correct?

Correct, you’ll only need the PCM credits (4 for 23 and newer, 2 for older)
